Why does the job exist?

The incumbent will assist the Deputy Director of Investigations in researching, planning, developing, implementing, tracking and assessing projects specific to program improvement initiatives that support best practice and improved outcomes for children and families; assists upper level PSD management staff in monitoring and reporting regular data reports related to key child welfare outcomes for the purpose of program implement and improved data quality, assists the director in reviewing cases and provider records for the purpose of preparation for decisions on high profile cases, constituent complaints, casework evaluation, and MFD and payment approval; and assists the director in coordinating, planning and scheduling meetings, with internal partners and external stakeholders including but not limited to executive management, county leadership, foster parents, and partner agencies.

How does it get done?
• Project Coordination: The incumbent will assist the Deputy Director in researching, planning, developing, implementing, and assessing projects specific to program improvement initiatives that support best practice and improved outcomes for children and families. Projects may include statewide initiatives, county specific interventions, and professional development plans for individual leaders. The incumbent will collaborate with county leadership, central office bureaus, other divisions, and partner agencies during the course of project coordination. (40%)
• Data Review and Reporting: The incumbent will assist the Deputy Director in monitoring and reporting regular data reports related to key child welfare outcomes for the purpose of program improvement and improved data quality. Examples include but are not limited to payment data, pending investigation data, worker/child visit data, worker/parent visit data, and timeliness to permanency data. The incumbent will collaborate with the Data and QA units and will utilize ROM and FACTS data reports for collecting and analyzing data. (20%)
• Case Review: The incumbent will assist the Deputy Director in reviewing cases and provider records for the purpose of preparation for decisions on high profile cases, Kevin S. settlement implementation, constituent complaints, casework evaluation, and MFD and payment approval. The incumbent will provide written and/or verbal summaries of reviews as determined appropriate by the requesting manager. (10%)
• Meeting Coordination and Record Keeping: The incumbent will assist the Deputy Director in coordinating, planning and scheduling meetings with internal partners and stakeholders including but not limited to executive management, county leadership, foster parents, and partner agencies. The incumbent will assist in keeping and disseminating meeting agendas, notes, and action plans. (15%)
• Administrative Duties: The incumbent will assist the Deputy Director with typical administrative duties such tracking, hiring new employees, tracking employee evaluations, tracking HR employee relations matters and maintaining schedules. (15%)

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
