Department Overview

Position Summary

Support managing resource allocation for Construction Management and Inspection, managing schedules for assigned work within the group. Track actual vs planned construction management costs by project or programs, and track key metrics including safety, overtime requests, contract management performance, training, and operator qualification. Provide documentation management support.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $39.90 to $62.98.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office, and your assigned location based on business needs. The headquarters location is flexible within the PG&E service territory.

Job Responsibilities

Project safety:

  • Act as team lead in prioritizing and consolidating tracking, analysis, and reporting and assist in leading process improvement.
  • Take a lead role in creating and implementing a plan of action to improve results.
  • Lead safety communications and documentation efforts
  • Ensure safety training is current and track and monitor employee attendance/ completion.
  • Take a lead role in coordinating department resolution of safety incidents, including with contractors and vendors.

Resource Management Support

  • Handle the most complex resource management assignments.
  • Assist in developing and implementing resource management changes and improvements for the department.
  • Assist with contractor and vendor qualifications and training initiatives and changes acting as the lead for Technical Assistants, including project work as may be required.

Construction Management/Inspection Supervisor Support

  • Act as lead in the department for cost estimates and forecasts, analysis against plan based on estimates, run rates, and overages.
  • Act as lead for monitoring compliance with applicable policies and standards and assist with change and improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor that work is performed in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the implementation of new policies, standards, and/or form changes.
  • Assist in identifying business impacts of changes.
  • Establish and maintain a database for craft hours and OT monitoring.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining processes to better utilize vendor, inspector, and contractor evaluations and assist in leading system improvement efforts.
  • Set up field office processes to monitor and meet construction management goals.
  • Provide technical support to construction managers on highly complex projects (larger projects may require on-site activities to set up construction management processes)
  • Support the timely and complete delivery of company-provided materials on projects.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely construction documentation:
  • Work with CMs and As-Built Quality Control group to improve consistency and quality of both documentation prior to job start and final project construction.
  • Work with Inspection Supervisor and local CCR clerks to monitor the Applicant Install Inspection process including scheduling and document control and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Work with Records Information Management (RIM) to ensure compliance with project documentation and retention.
  • Coordinate construction management job files
  • Work with CMs and contract group to ensure all contacts are properly set up prior to the start of work, POs are properly identified, help resolve any issues with invoices and charges, ensure CMs are familiar with contract terms, and make recommendations to use contractors more effectively.
  • Assist estimating with actual cost information based on cost history.

Quality control

  • Act as team lead for quality control-related contacts and activities with audit dept.
  • Provide support to audits performed on Construction Management and Inspection work and processes.
  • Assist lead auditor in audit plan preparation.
  • Provide processes to track audit findings and resolutions.

Contracts:

  • Act as team lead for contract-related efforts, changes, and improvements
  • Ensure CMs and inspectors understand the terms of contracts utilized for projects.
  • Maintain copies of contracts onsite for reference.
  • Ensure BPOs are properly funded for planned work.
  • Coordinate with the contract administrator the distribution of company standard updates to contractors holding MSAs.
  • Assist management and clerks in resolving any issues.

Personnel

  • Assist with onboarding of new CM and Inspection staff.
  • Implement adequate processes and controls to ensure employees stay in compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Work with clerical staff to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures.
  • Assist management or clerks in identifying and resolving any compliance issues.
  • Mentor Associate, Intermediate and Senior level TAs.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • 5 years’ experience in contract, construction, QC, or documentation controls-related support

Desired:

  • BA or BS technical degree
  • 7 years or more technical-related experience.
  • Comprehensive construction contracting experience, and construction terminology.
  • Experience in working with permits, permitting, local and state agencies.
  • Experience working in field and on-site with civil construction projects.
