Description
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is seeking a creative and energetic Specialty Programs Leader.
This position will serve as the lead for specialty programs offered through Garner Recreation Center for preschool, youth, and individuals with disabilities. The Specialty Programs Leader will plan and execute a variety of programs including preschool arts and crafts classes, preschool movement and athletic classes, and inclusion programs for youths and adults. This position will work under the supervision of the Recreation Programs Supervisor.
Examples of Duties
- Plan and implement various recreational and leisure activities for preschool participants; this includes developing lessons, organizing supplies, teaching classes, and evaluating programs.
- Assists with creating marketing materials for specialty programs.
- Assists in developing and leading programs for individuals with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants must have prior work experience leading recreational programs.
Basic computer skills are required.
Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire is required. Training will be provided, if needed.
Must have flexibility to work weekday mornings, evenings.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Applicants who are at least 21 years of age and have a valid North Carolina driver ‘s license and good driving record are preferred. If hired, they will complete on-the-job training to safely operate a mini-bus and /or 15-passenger van.
