Job Summary
If you are an Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) looking for a rewarding temporary opportunity, QSAC is searching for a dedicated NYS Certified Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teacher of Students with Speech Language Disabilities (TSSLD) with NYS Certification of Clinical Competency (CCC) to provide speech and language therapy to assess and treat speech, language, and social communication disorders in children with autism spectrum disorder.
We provide extensive support, training and opportunities for growth both professionally and within the agency.
Responsibilities
Program Development & Assessment
- Ensure that speech and language programs are developed and implemented in accordance with behavioral principles and the individual needs of each student’s IEP
- Conduct formal and informal assessments of student’s speech, language, and communication skills
- Write IEP goals, objectives and updates
- Implement data collection, behavior management interventions and the principles of behavior analyses during individualized therapy sessions in accordance with the IEP
- Maintain daily attendance of speech sessions and session notes
Communication & Training
- Participate in Parent/Teacher Clinics in order to promote generalization of speech and language skills learned in school. This may entail formal and informal contact with teachers and parents, as well as parent therapy observations, direct parent training, IEP and parent conferences, and home visits when requested
- Participate in staff/team meetings and required staff training
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Vaccination required
- NYS Certification of Clinical Competency required
- NYS Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teacher of Students with Speech Language Disabilities (TSSLD) required
- MA Degree in Speech Language Pathology required
- At least 6 months experience employing behavior analytic principles with children with ASD
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, including Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) highly preferred
