The Radio Program Director’s responsibilities include working directly with Spinnaker Radio’s volunteer DJs and staff to train them to produce live and pre-recorded content. The Program Director will listen to and critique content produced to ensure FCC regulations are being followed and the content is appropriate to Spinnaker Radio’s format.
Required Qualifications
This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may be asked to perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of Spinnaker. Employees must meet the responsibilities and qualifications of the position consistent with a minimum of 15 hours of competent effort each week. The Spinnaker Radio Program Director will:

  • Help Maintain a weekly schedule of live DJs/specialty programs.
  • Ensure that DJs attend live shifts and produce specialty shows as scheduled.
  • Make sure new DJs have followed all steps before the beginning show (i.e. reading policy and procedures and signing acknowledgment form, becoming informed on the format and FCC regulations, learning how to properly use the equipment before recording or going live)
  • Assist in teaching each new DJ how to produce live and pre-recorded content
  • Help to ensure that DJs have access to the station as needed to complete their duties.
  • Help assist in coordinating replacement DJs if someone misses their shift.
  • Review and critique live programs and specialty shows. Offer guidance to DJs to maintain Spinnaker Radio standards.
  • Advise the Station Manager of any substandard or discrepant programming.
  • Queue programs to ensure uninterrupted programming.
  • DJ one live hour per week and more as scheduled/needed.
  • Assist in coverage of live Spinnaker Radio events and/or programming.

*This position requires good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a willingness to learn. Must be a current UNF student. Must be continuously enrolled at UNF for the duration of the position and not be on academic probation or suspension as defined by the most recent University of North Florida course catalog.
