Responsibilities
Peraton is looking for a Splunk Development Engineer to become part of Peraton’s Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective and secure business processes.
Peraton’s DSCM program encompasses technical, engineering, data analytics, cyber security, management, operational, logistical and administrative support to aid and advise DoS Cyber & Technology Security (CTS) Directorate. This includes protecting a global cyber infrastructure comprising networks, systems, information, and mobile devices all while identifying and responding to cyber risks and threats. Those supporting Peraton’s DSCM program strive to leverage their expert knowledge and propose creative solutions to real-world cybersecurity challenges.
The Splunk Development Engineer will support the Data Analytics section within the CMO office located in Beltsville, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on SPL knowledge for solving complex big data search processing challenges.
- Respond to customer requests for data parsing and transformations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support the Data Analytics program, creating tactical content for reporting, alerting, and data visualization for the Cyber Mission.
- Support Splunk Enterprise Security.
- The position will require several days per week working onsite in Beltsville, MD.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of experience; 3 with a Master’s; or a High School diploma and 9 years of experience.
- US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain an interim Secret security clearance before start date with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
- Solid expertise in building Splunk data models, summary indexing, and accelerated searching.
- Strong background in working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Proficiency in constructing Splunk dashboards, including the use of CSS/Java.
- In-depth understanding of various datasets common to Cyber Security Operations.
- Hands-on Unix experience in a STIG environment.
- Experience navigating processes and procedures in a large Government enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, BASH Scripting, and PowerShell.
- Good understanding of Cloud Computing.
- Must have one of the follow certs: CAP, CASP+, CCISO, CCNA, CISM, CISSP, CND, CSSLP, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, GSLC, Security+, or SSCP or the ability to obtain before start date.

Target Salary Range
$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
