The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.
Splunk Systems Administrator Senior
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze where Splunk can be used within our environments.
- Define, develop, and deliver solutions.
- Analyze User Problems, Propose Solutions, and implement/assist in implementing those solutions.
- Provide Level 1 & 2 support for internal Splunk Users.
- Be the interface between internal Splunk Users and Splunk Account Team.
- Manage internal Splunk Users Group.
- Develop internal training programs.
- Build Knowledge Base of Splunk issues, common searches, etc.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- Related Bachelor’s and 8 or more years of related experience; or HS Diploma and 14 or more years of related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for additional years of experience.
- Related certifications may count towards years of related experience.
- Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- 3+ years of consistent Splunk usage/experience.
- Proficiency with Search Processing Language (SPL) and developing complex, time-efficient searches.
- Proficiency with Linux and Linux command structure.
- Ability to plan, script and execute application enhancements.
- Experience gathered/defined systems requirements, functional specification, and user stories
- Basic SQL skills, able to analyze data from relational database.
- Service-oriented mindset to meet user’s needs.
- Ability to draw lessons from mistakes or gaps and proactively improve application usage.
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid problem-solving skills to isolate issues and find the root cause of the problem.
- Splunk Certified Developer or other Splunk Certifications preferred.
- Scripting Skills in a variety of languages – JavaScript, Python-preferred.
- A current, active security clearance preferred.
- Network Monitoring skills preferred.
- Experience with SolarWinds and ServiceNow preferred.
Off-Site Work Environment: This position may be performed remotely, typically at the employee’s home, and may require periodic work at a specified Ball location. Travel/commute to various Ball and/or customer locations at times when not “home based” may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $111,000 – $154,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
