Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties
The Fall Adult Volleyball program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 19-December 14, 2023.
This position is responsible for:
- Routine to complex work in sports officiating.
- Opening and closing of Broomfield facilities as needed.
- Supervises and leads programs as needed.
- Supervises employees, volunteers, and participants during programs or facility activities.
- Ensures all scheduled officials, scorekeepers, custodians, recreation workers, facility attendants, instructors, etc. are present to perform assigned duties.
- Directs, guides and motivates employees as needed.
- Set-up and takedown of necessary equipment needed for programs or functions.
- Plans, directs and/or instructs various program activities as needed, in accordance with the scope of the position and direction provided in staff meetings, policy guidelines, staff manuals and by supervisors.
- Promotes interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to the public.
- Enforces all rules and regulations of programs and facilities.
- Ensures that the facility is safe for use.
- Ensures adherence to posted policies and rules regarding safe facility and equipment usage.
- Assists in the daily/weekly cleaning, maintenance, and safety inspections.
- Handles all emergency situations by calling appropriate staff and agencies. Assists staff in all other areas of the facility as needed.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Training – High school graduate or GED equivalent. Current, valid AED, First Aid and CPR Certifications preferred. Some college-level education in recreation, physical education, or education preferred.
Experience – Previous experience in an organized recreation program and experience working with the public in providing customer service. Previous experience officiating volleyball, softball, baseball and/or basketball preferred.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: – Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record for continued employment. AED, First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment and must be maintained for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: oral board, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex offender registry, driving record check through DMV.
Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The noise level in the environment is moderate. Work is scheduled for a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. Working in the Recreation Services Division may require indoor and outdoor activities. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and may be exposed to a variety of potential safety hazards. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
