Job Summary – About the Role
Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
This position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality. Work record that shows reliability, initiative, tact and productivity. Must have an understanding of basic custodial skills and knowledge of tools, equipment and supplies needed to safely perform and complete assigned custodial duties. Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and staff.
Need to Have: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. High School Diploma or a diploma in process. At least two years of cleaning and janitorial experience. A valid driver’s license is required. Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
Essential Functions of the Position
Park District Cornerstones
- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
- Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
- Comply with Park District policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, the Assistant Superintendent of Sportsplex, and the Sportsplex Manager, the Sportsplex Custodian shall complete his/her assigned duties to the best of his/her abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position is part- time as defined within the Park District’s Personnel Practices Manual. Generally described, this position averages 10-15 hours per week on an annual basis. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
- Perform custodial functions necessary to maintain the general appearance of the facility, both interior and exterior.
- Stay alert to detect potential failures in all equipment hardware and furnishings. Report failures to the Sportsplex Manager.
- Willingly work over and above required daily hours when necessary and be able to work a flexible schedule as required.
- Coordinate with the Front Desk Associate for room setups.
- Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Work harmoniously with the public and fellow employees in an enthusiastic and cooperative manner.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
Marginal Functions of the Position
- Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- The ability to set up and take down rooms for programs and rentals.
- Assist in snow removal.
