KIPP Public Schools is a national network of free, open enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to supporting all students to reach their highest aspirations. There are 270 KIPP schools across the nation serving more than 120,000 students. Nationally, KIPP students have a 4X higher graduation rate than that of their peers.

KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eleven KIPP schools including four primary schools, five middle schools, one K-8 school, and one high school, as well as the KIPP Forward program which supports students through college, career, and beyond.

Job Description

KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools is seeking a Development Associate to support our fundraising and relationship building. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, the Development Associate will play a key role on the development team. Responsibilities include leading, managing, and strengthening our Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database utilization and reporting. In addition, the Development Associate will help track and project manage our grant applications and reports, milestones for events and other key deliverables. Job Responsibilities:

Development Operations & Events

  • Develop and maintain an accurate calendar of development dates and deliverables (end of year, grant applications and reporting, events, etc.)
  • Manage a detailed grants calendar with contacts, deadlines, & reporting requirements; ensure on-time delivery of all grant and report submissions
  • Support the planning and execution of development events throughout the year, including vendor management, that serve to acquire, engage, and steward donors and prospects
  • Support the planning and execution of end-of-year communications to donors, including collaboration with the marketing & communications team and others
  • Closely monitor all development event and project timelines and content to assure timely and accurate completion
  • Collaborate with development team and schools to schedule and execute school tours for external partners
  • Assist in preparation of grant proposals and reports, including gathering appropriate and required documentation
  • Help create and update key documents, including lists of funders, lists of board members, etc. necessary for grant applications
  • Support the spending and tracking of grant funds, working cross functionally
  • Research grant opportunities to support programs and operations
  • Collaborate with the marketing & communications team, as well as other teams, to develop relevant marketing materials for development purposes
  • Participate in the preparation of written development materials including case statements, proposals, donor impact reports, and fundraising initiative/campaign related literature
  • Conduct research to prepare key staff members for meetings, tours, conferences, and other presentations
  • Manage the aspects of the KIPP Opportunity Fund for which the development team is responsible (ensuring timely filing of documents with the state, record keeping, etc.)

Database Management

  • Overall management of the development database (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge)
  • Complete entry and acknowledgment of gifts and pledges received. Assist with matching and employee giving programs gift entry and acknowledgment.
  • Create and pull accurate reports from the database for internal and external use
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate recording and transfer of information between systems
  • Utilize tools in Blackbaud CRM for consistently tracking all appeals and communications touchpoints
  • Manage regular processes in Blackbaud CRM to support annual giving, stewardship, and other efforts
  • Maintain Raiser’s Edge to more efficiently track grant application deadlines, reporting deadlines, etc.
  • Partner with other members of the team to ensure data integrity; provide training and support to other development team members on Raiser’s Edge utilization
  • Support leadership team with entry and updates to Raiser’s Edge
  • Manage data entry and hygiene efforts, including de-duplicating and address updates
  • Store and locate grant agreements, other key documents, and call/meeting notes in Raiser’s Edge

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Two or more years of professional work experience, ideally including database management and/or non-profit experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Blackbaud or other development database systems
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a big plus
  • Strong attention to detail; excellent organizational, project, and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for multiple audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop productive working relationships with diverse individuals and groups
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time while producing high-quality results
  • Team player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools
  • Excellent judgment and an ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
  • Ability to engage in meaningful conversation about mission, vision, and programming with a diverse community of donors and supporters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Additional Information

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $45,000-$55,000 and depends on prior experience, as well as a benefits package including
