The Availability Major Programs team is looking for a Sr. Availability Engineer (AE) to serve as a technical resource and leader. The Sr. AE will be responsible for driving large-scale global projects and initiatives, that directly impact capacity delivery and availability for our customers.
If you like to interact with customers and a diverse array of stakeholders, track and analyze performance data, and develop new processes and methods to drive improvements, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help ensure delivering high availability for AWS customers.
Key job responsibilities
Our Sr. Availability Engineers are individuals who demonstrate initiative and proactively seek solutions to problems.
• Own and deliver large-scale and complex global engineering and operational programs and initiatives that directly impact capacity delivery and availability for our customers.
• Partnering with and influence the direction of multiple engineering and operations teams within and outside of AWS to deliver complex/cross-functional projects
• Mentor, train, and develop career progression for members of the organization .
• Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective.
• Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the region and with peers globally.
A day in the life
Our Sr. Availability Engineers, who have industry-leading technical abilities and demonstrate a breadth of engineering and operational knowledge:
• Gather business requirements, document functional and design specifications, ensure systems capture applicable data to enable the customer to measure how effective their processes are.
• Identify and assemble the appropriate resources for each project, assign individual responsibilities, and develop the milestones and launch schedule to ensure timely and successful delivery.
• Contribute with cross-functional business and technical skills, assess and manage risks, measure and report on progress, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs with the technical constraints.
• You rely heavily on influence over authority to drive project deliverables.
• You present to Sr. Leadership on a regular basis, synthesizing problems and solutions into a simple and consumable manner
• You are responsible for data collection, analytics and dashboard creation as a way to help others recognize the best path to make the business better.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 4+ years experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
