To get there, we need an exceptionally talented, bright, and customer-obsessed Behavioral Scientist, to deeply understand niche customer personas, who shop for Fashion or Fitness-related products, and identify how to create innovative shopping experiences for them.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will identify customer personas, identify what drives customer behavior (e.g., to purchase, or return, in various scenarios), and create and present your research, leading to implementation via partnership with other scientists, engineers, UX, and product teams.
The ideal candidate will have industry experience in consumer research, decision theory, behavioral psychology, or other cognitive behaviors that drive daily decisions. You will apply relevant industry and academic learnings to customer-focused programs. You will collect and analyze internal customer data. You will design A/B tests, including proposing how to best measure them via metrics. You will analyze large amounts of quantitative data and turn it into business intelligence for senior leaders.
The ideal candidate will excel in conducting quantitative research on consumer decision making, and be comfortable interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will conduct scientifically rigorous research and experiments, communicate clearly, and be committed to leveraging research to better serve Amazon customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 3+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience
– PhD, or Master’s degree and 5+ years of quantitative field research experience
– Experience with big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive etc.
– Experience communicating qualitative research methods and findings to non-qualitative researchers
– Experience conveying complex subject matter to clients and stakeholders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes
– Experience with discrete and continuous optimization methodologies and algorithms
– Expertise in writing SQL queries to extract and transform data stored in relational databases.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
