Sr. Commercialization Manager, Global Private Brands – Product Development

The Sr. Commercialization Manager plays a pivotal role in transforming concepts into new products. This person is involved in the entire commercialization process, ensuring that products meet market demands, and business goals. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Food Science with 7-10 years’ experience or a M.S. in Food Science with 5-7 years’ relevant experience across FDA and/or USDA regulated foods, combining technical competence with critical and strategic thinking to execute successful product launches. Individuals with expertise in the following categories will be preferred that include, but not limited to Fresh Prepared Foods, RTE, Breakfast, Bakery, Retort, Condiments, Dairy, Beverages, Frozen, Meat, Packaged Meals, Produce, and Snacks.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr. Commercialization Manager bridges the gap between product development and market launch, ensuring that our food products meet both quality standards. They must be able to demonstrate the following:

– Product Commercialization: Lead the process of transitioning new food products from the development phase to commercial production. This includes, if necessary, coordinating trials, scale-up activities, along with ensuring product consistency and quality.

– Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Culinary and Packaging Developers, Product Managers, Supply Chain, Quality, Food Safety, Marketing, and Operations, to ensure alignment and smooth execution of product commercialization plans.

– Regulatory Compliance: Working knowledge food industry regulations and ensure that all products meet compliance standards and labeling requirements.

– Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budgets, to bring products to market efficiently.

– Food Safety and Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain proper control processes to guarantee the consistency and excellence of the final product.

– Supplier Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

A day in the life

Travel (50%) – There can be heavy traveling involved in the role where it can top out at 75% in some instances, but across the year, it will likely average out to about 50%.

The Sr. Commercialization Manager must hold expertise around knowledge of food processing and commercialization, experience with creation of process standards to control risks, and foundational knowledge of appropriate testing requirements in foods. This individual must be an advocate for the business when interacting with suppliers and an educator, translating food manufacturing process to stakeholders if needed. They are involved in supporting new supplier identification, commissioning, start-up, validation, and support defect investigation if needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree

– 7+ years of end to end product delivery experience

– 5-7 years’ relevant experience across FDA and/or USDA regulated foods

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience relying on analytics and data to cultivate deep customer empathy, shape product decisions and track effectiveness of change

– Experience working with a cross-functional team across design, operations, and engineering team to meet high-reaching goals

– Multidisciplinary experience (e.g., operations, product development, food safety, quality, etc) in a USDA meat plant

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
