Join Our Team

You will be our Senior Counsel, Employment & Litigation, a key member of our legal team who will be our expert on employment and litigation matters in the United States. You will join us at an exciting time as we are growing and investing in our infrastructure to support our business growth. You will report to our Chief Legal Officer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing employment and labor law matters primarily in the United States, in collaboration with our Chief Legal Officer, senior leaders and human resources, for SiriusPoint’s core insurance and reinsurance businesses.
  • Providing support (where needed) on employment and labor law related matters to senior leaders, non-U.S. lawyers and Human Resources across SiriusPoint’s offices worldwide.
  • Managing and overseeing employment litigation, disputes, and other contentious litigation matters, primarily in the U.S. Identifying, engaging, and supervising external counsel, as needed, to address employment- and labor law-related issues and employment-related litigation around the globe.
  • Managing internal stakeholders proactively and integrating expertise in decision making to balance risk and execution appropriately as it relates to employment law.
  • Driving, executing, and monitoring labor relations and employment guidelines and contract structures with a view to best practices and compliance with applicable law.
  • Collaborating closely with and advising the global human resources team on employment matters, such as hiring, performance management, immigration, internal investigations, and terminations – assessing risk, building processes, and earning influence through exhibited expertise.
  • Drafting offer letters, employment contracts, separation agreements, and creating and maintaining template employment-related documents.
  • Overseeing the creation and maintenance of the SiriusPoint employee manual and employment related policies, procedures, and documents by the U.S. and group human resources team.
  • Responding to and advise on third party subpoenas and government or self-regulatory investigations and other white-collar matters.
  • Proactively providing strategic guidance on best practices, trends, and developments in labor and employment laws across jurisdictions in which we operate and/or plan to expand.
  • Developing and administering training to drive improved knowledge to the business to avoid common mistakes that lead to employment litigation issues.

Your skills and abilities should include:

  • Experience as an employment lawyer with a minimum of 7 years of client counselling and litigation experience, working as external or internal legal counsel to a global, publicly traded companies on a wide range of employment law matters.
  • Must be a member, in good standing, of the New York Bar and/or any US State.
  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance or another highly regulated sector (e.g., financial services, pharmaceutical) is a plus.
  • Ability to manage others while meeting and/or exceeding deadlines – prioritizing, multi-tasking, and maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • An exceptional communicator, collaborator, and influencer. Skilled at engaging with and building trusted relationships with C-suite leaders and other key stakeholders. Able to bring people together.
  • Able to operate and excel at both strategic and tactical levels. Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done.

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $165,000 per year to $205,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary within this range, SiriusPoint will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
