The Sr Director, Application Development, Retirement Sytems will be responsible for leading a team of managers, professionals and technical resources. Role will be accountable for the Retirement Division Administration systems that may include ADMI, GNAV/WMA, and TLS and data, applications, integrations to support the Retirement Division ecosystem.

This role works closely with key stakeholders to implement and maintain technology solutions to support and enhance the current and future business needs. The role leads a team(s) that identifies improvements and establishes standards while ensuring alignment with enterprise governance, quality protocols and regulatory adherence. This team(s) builds, develops, configures and supports Retirement Products, enhancements, and regulatory compliance requests. The role brings current knowledge and future vision for Application Development and IT operations functions including its strategy, service offerings and workforce. It is a senior stakeholder in all relationships with externally sourced development and operations capabilities.

The role is a key contributor in the development of an overall IT strategic plan to maintain robust and unified systems technology, deliver a maximum return on investment in resources and support expected growth models. The role will work with and support key stakeholders across the enterprise including segment leaders, shared services, corporate staff functions and IT leadership.
Job Duties

  • Sets the mission, vision, and strategy for the Retirement Systems organization to maximize the success of business and IT enterprise initiatives.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of business strategy and objectives and recommends changes and improvements in the current Retirement Systems technology footprint to enable those objectives.
  • Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively to include leading a team committed to excellent customer service.
  • Develops and monitors metrics related to the Retirement Systems applications to help manage capacity and to provide leadership with summary level details of completed initiatives and/or issues.
  • Supports the strategic planning process as requested.
  • Manages the Retirement Systems’ budget and controls expenses effectively.
  • Evaluates and recommends information systems technology solutions that support the Retirement Division’s products, services and initiatives.
  • Helps create, maintain and enforce written policies and procedures regarding technology delivery and support, such as Disaster Recovery, SOX compliance and Quality Assurance.
  • Responsible for managing and directing the work of several functional leaders and have senior-level manager experience that can lead, grow, and manage a rapidly expanding business.
  • Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in IT with at least 5 years managing application development and application transformation
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Technology Management required; Advanced experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Strong SDLC background
  • Strong influencing skills with an ability to successfully lead teams and projects
  • Experience leading in a cross functional setting with a proven ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Experience in delivery of products, functionality, and enhancements in a variety of applications efficiently, with quality and aggressive timelines with a focus on driving to achieve or exceed corporate strategic goals
  • Excellent analytical, analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to transform and navigate changing needs and priorities, ambiguity, and short deadlines
  • Ability to develop staff including coaching, mentoring, and performance management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills with an ability to adjust communication based on the audience
  • Experience in annuity application development, annuity operations, and annuity product delivery
  • Certifications in ITIL certifications, LOMA designations, FLMI preferred); Series 99 license preferred
  • Understanding of NAIC and tax compliance related to annuity products
  • Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $90,000 to $150,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
