Sr. FinOps Success Manager, OPTICS

The AWS Industries OPTICS (Optimization Intelligence for Cloud Systems) team has a quickly growing and direct impact on AWS’s largest customers. The OPTICS team works to proactively optimize our customer’s deployments, identify cost savings, educate stakeholders on cloud best practices and create cost and usage transparency.

The OPTICS team is looking for a Sr. FinOps Success Manager to be hands-on and passionate about working directly with the world’s largest and most complex multinational organizations as they transform their procurement and commercial process to be optimized for the cloud and align FinOps best practices with their IT goals. This person will be the subject matter expert on cost optimization and efficiency, leading and supporting customer conversations around cost savings, cost visibility, education on optimization and long-term success on AWS. This role will include generating recommendations on how customers can optimize their usage of AWS, developing roadmaps to achieve long term goals through FinOps best practices, and working with partners to ensure ongoing success at scale. It is crucial for this person to be able to drive towards simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, have excellent project-management skills, be able to communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences, visualize and tell a story with data, and be comfortable interfacing with the C-suite decision makers.

Key job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as the subject matter expert around cloud finance strategies, procurement operations, and cost management mechanisms.
• Work backwards from your customers’ goals to design, implement, and execute on a Cloud Financial Management roadmap that support their business objectives.
• Provide guidance to customers and stakeholders on key performance indicators.
• Guide customers through the creation, presentation, and implementation of cost optimization roadmaps, reviews, and initiatives.
• Evangelize cost management with customers, partners, and at various networking opportunities with customers, partners, and peers.
• Align AWS resources to meet the unique needs of AWS customers.
• Communicate forecasting, budgeting, and savings to both technical and non-technical leaders
• Act as the “voice of the customer” to advocate for the adoption and implementation of operational best practices that will have positive downstream impacts on your customers experience with AWS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
  • 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
  • Understanding of AWS and/or cloud technology with strong data visualization skills including Excel, AWS QuickSight, Domo, Tableau or similar

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Existing AWS Certifications (i.e. Cloud Practitioner/Solution Architect)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
