Job Summary

This position supports the Labor Relations function for the various Lines of Business (LOBs) and reports to the respective Manager – Labor Relations. This position is responsible for the strategic oversight and administration of collective bargaining agreements with our labor unions. The position regularly interacts with senior leaders, union leaders, and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

Assist with the strategic oversight and resolution of the more sensitive and complex day-to-day Labor Relations matters for various LOB’s in accordance with contract language and company policy, procedures, and practices.
Assist with advising leadership on and managing the discipline, grievance and arbitration processes, including the management and audit of various logs and reports relating to disciplinary actions, discharges, grievances, and arbitrations. Provide regular communication with management and union leaders regarding open issues and concerns.
Actively participate in negotiating labor agreements.
Consult with lines of business to identify labor relations training needs and then develop and deliver training.
Partner with Compliance, Employee Relations, and Legal regarding ongoing concerns, investigations, arbitrations, legal disputes, and resolutions to achieve optimal results.
Recommend process improvements, train new employees in the group, lead projects and perform other duties as required to support the overall Labor Relations function.

Job Specific Qualifications

With Bachelor’s degree, 7 years of experience in labor relations or another position with relevant skills and experience. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 10 years of experience in labor relations or another position with relevant skills and experience. Demonstrated knowledge of labor and employment laws. Experience in developing strategies to resolve sensitive and complex labor relations issues. Presentation skills – Ability to train others. PowerPoint presentation skills. Experience using Microsoft Office applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate with all levels (including SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Solid project management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and lead cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment. Ability to develop creative solutions.
