Sr. Internal Auditor

POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of the Internal Audit team, the Sr. Internal Auditor will participate in operational, financial, and compliance reviews with a focus on improving company processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the annual SOX Compliance efforts, which may include but not be limited to: developing/updating SOX test plans, performing walkthroughs, executing testing, and communicating results to the management team
  • Assist in the development of the entity-wide risk assessment and a comprehensive annual internal audit plan.
  • Plan, scope, and execute internal audits as listed in the Internal Audit Plan (Operational, Financial, Compliance, Management/Audit Committee special requests, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders
  • Promote organizational confidence in the value and integrity of internal audit services
  • Prepare work papers documenting procedures performed that fully support audit findings
  • Recommend improvements that add value to risk management, internal control, governance, and business processes and communicate control findings to process owners
  • Assist in the preparation of Internal Audit reports, which include formal recommendations to the management team for review and implementation
  • Track and follow up on audit findings
  • May supervise outside consultants as necessary to supplement internal staffing
  • Assist with the Company’s Compliance Program initiatives as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • At least four years of experience with internal audit, public accounting, or other audit experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in Mining, Manufacturing, or other extractive industry
  • Active CPA license, CIA, CISA, CFE designation

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present clear, objective evaluation and articulation of risks, opportunities for improvement, and internal control recommendations
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external customers and auditors
  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Incumbents must be able to perform work that requires typing, reading, communicating, sitting for prolonged periods of time, standing, and walking.

The employee:

  • Is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel
  • Is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms
  • Is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance
  • May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

In the event that the incumbent visits an operations worksite, personal protective equipment including but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing may be required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Targeted salary range for this position is $105,000-$115,000 annually. Salary commensurate with experience and skill set.
