Meet the team:
As the Sr. Manager of Cloud Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining highly available platforms on Google Cloud, leveraging technologies such as Kafka, databases, big data, and AI platforms. You will lead a team of skilled engineers and work closely with application teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal utilization of these platforms. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for building scalable and reliable cloud-based solutions.
Where you come in:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of highly available platforms on Google Cloud, focusing on technologies such as Kafka, databases, big data, and AI platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and develop strategies for integrating and leveraging the platform services effectively.
- Architect and implement robust cloud-based solutions that ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Define and enforce best practices, standards, and processes for cloud engineering, ensuring adherence to industry-leading security and compliance standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with operations and infrastructure teams to optimize system performance, monitor health, and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in Google Cloud, Kafka, databases, big data, and AI platforms, and evaluate their potential for enhancing existing platforms or introducing new capabilities.
What makes you successful:
- Proven experience (8+ years) in designing, building, and managing cloud-based platforms, preferably on Google Cloud.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts, infrastructure components, and services, including compute, storage, networking, and security.
- In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with Kafka, databases (SQL and NoSQL), big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.), and AI platforms (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
- Experience leading and managing a team of engineers, including remote team members.
- Proficient in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automation tools (e.g., Crossplane, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), and log management (ELK stack).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed cloud environment.

Experience and Education
- Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 13+ years of industry experience.
- 5-8 years of previous people management experience.
Exempt Salary Details
- The annual base salary range for this role is $141,800 to $236,400. Final compensation package will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, business needs and market demand.
