About the Job

We currently have an exciting opportunity a Senior Manager, Store Design to join our Real Estate team. The Sr. Manager, Store Design will work in collaboration with the Sr. Construction Manager to manage end to end construction process and execution of company new store and remodel projects. This position manages the design of all construction elements, overseeing external contracted architects and reports to the Sr. Director, Construction, Design, & Store Facilities.

What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees stages of new store, relocation and remodel development processes including management of A/E firms. Responsible for implementing and managing the design of new and remodeled stores. Partners with Sr. Construction Manager in development, design, selection, and purchase of FFE.
  • Oversees architectural vendors ensuring a consistent and timely management of submission and permitting process.
  • Partners with Strategic Procurement to ensure fixture purchasing program consistently delivers timely support for all projects.
  • Partners with cross functional executive team to develop a new store prototype which is cost conscience, repeatable and reflective of our brand direction. Establishes and fosters a relationship with each brand leader, to understand individual brand’s operational and design needs.
  • Actively partners with Marketing, Visual Merch and Store Planning partners to ensure all design deliverables align with each brand’s operation needs. Including plan-o-grams, in-store marketing, and promotional displays.
  • Partners in maintaining Construction Tracking Report, managing development timeline, costs and other measures against approved budgets, timelines, and objectives. Utilizes project planning tools as a single source project tracking and communication.
  • Leads the design and development of store and fixture designs working with internal department stakeholders (In Store Planning, Store Ops, and Marketing) and external professionals (Architects, vendors, etc.). Ensures highest level of standards are met when sourcing fixtures and proper inventory management of fixtures are measured through an established tracking and reporting process.
  • Develops mockup models for design development of lighting, fixtures, and architectural elements. Completes RFI responses, review of all millwork shop drawings, and drawing redlines for all projects.
  • Manages outside consultants and vendors in QC of drawings, materials, and fabrications.
  • Develops and maintains a pool of professionals providing architect, engineering, manufacturing, and supply; in partnership with Procurement, negotiates service contracts and fixture and building supply contracts with these vendors.
  • Ensures the appropriate measures are followed to obtain all required project approvals from landlords, permitting authorities and other agencies as required and necessary for project completion.
  • Responsible for preparation of Real Estate Committee submittals, construction budget, proposed exterior signage.
  • Reviews and comments on lease draft language as it relates to construction and facilities for adherence to company’s stated objectives. Identifies and communicates risks related to lease.

What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience

  • 10 years specialty retail store planning / construction experience
  • General knowledge of retail construction and design management
  • Comprehensive understanding of AutoCAD and other appropriate software
  • Knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Must be highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and people at the same time and understands how to prioritize based upon objectives.
  • Must be an excellent decision maker, thinking well “on their feet,” able to pivot quickly as situations require.
  • Ability to travel as needed (20%)
  • Position may work in a remote capacity but will need to be available for travel to the corporate office as needed.

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
• Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
  • Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates from a remote office location.

$100,000-$150,000. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Other compensation may include a 15% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
