Sr Manager, UX Design and Research, AWS Support

AWS Kumo has a mission to build the next generation of AI/GenAI driven cloud computing solutions for Amazon Web Services customers and innovators, empowering them to get the most out of Amazon’s cloud services. The organization is looking for a Design and Research leader to define and build the UX Strategy for achieving the mission.

We are a critical area of growth for Amazon where you’ll be involved in all aspects of the product development lifecycle from research to ideation, and you will invent the next innovation working collaboratively with leaders across Global Services to bring them to life. You will own the experience for our entire product suite and utilize your full range of global organizational leadership, research, customer and user experience skills. As a Sr. Manager of UX Design and Research, you will be responsible for growing and leading a UX Design and Research team to solve challenges, and shape the design language that defines applications, tools and solutions used by AWS Support, AWS Managed Services teams and builders around the world. The role requires a leader and innovator, who will champion user-centered solutions for exciting and ambitious ideas. You will work side-by-side with Product Management and Technical leadership to bring experiences to life, continue to discover, ideate, prioritize and problem solve product delivery from exploration to launch. You will also be responsible for conducting reviews with executive leadership as well leading and growing a team of researchers and designers.

Key job responsibilities

*Experience leading a global, multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of experiences end-to-end (research, ideation, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals) in complex product spaces.

* Be a strategic leader to drive Kumo’s short to long-term strategy through a UX and Research lens.

* Relentlessly simplify and distill complex customer journeys and business processes into intuitive and elegant product experiences.

* Work closely with cross-functional teams to help define best-in-class user experiences.

* Wear multiple hats with the ability to create customer journeys, process flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mocks to effectively communicate design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors.

* Drive the development and communication of design guidelines and patterns, with focus on providing a consistent and intuitive experience across our product suite.

* Drive planning processes for new products and features helping deliver the vision across our product suite.

* Own the production of world-class research and designs documents for presentation to senior executives, product management, engineering, and peer design teams.

* Handle multiple projects in an agile, fast-paced environment.

* This role supports several Leadership level goals across organization and manages a global team, distributed in diverse locations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 10+ years of design experience

– 5+ years of leading multi-discipline Design teams (ie. visual design, interaction design, user research, etc.) experience

– Experience managing teams

– Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design

– Experience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
