As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented and passionate Principal UX Designer to play a vital role in shaping the end-to-end experiences, insist on the highest quality of interaction design, and influence product roadmaps with customer experience considerations that harmonize disintegrated experiences.
The role will be focused on working in the headcount management space as a part of the larger ecosystem of inter-connected products in workforce planning. Effective controllership combined with an optimal user experience is an absolute requirement to manage approved plan and hiring to successfully staff our Amazon businesses with the right talent at the right time. Our systems form the centerpiece of this ecosystem and establish the source of truth for approved plans. The products we own have grown to be business critical for AWS and Amazon businesses. Our largest and most passionate customer is AWS who has deemed our service mission critical.
We are passionate about creating meaningful and delightful user experiences for our customers. In crafting these experiences, you will work cross-functionally with UX Designers, Product Managers, Researchers, Engineers, and Program Managers across Amazon. You will lead the UX design engagement, setting up milestones for the project teams based on a solid strategy that helps us incrementally achieve the North Star for headcount management. You will go from discovery research to evaluating multiple low or high fidelity concepts with customers to prepare for feature releases. To be successful, you must be a critical, inventive, and a strategic thinker with strong interface design design chops and an ability to communicate your ideas (written and verbal) effectively to peers, stakeholders and executives. Finance and enterprise design experience is a plus!
Key job responsibilities
* Apply best practices in how teams research problems to be solved, experiment with multiple concepts through ideation workshops, and evaluate how the product is meeting customer goals (pre/post release) with engagement analytics.
* Stay ahead of developments in the Fintech and UX design space, and use this deep expertise as an input to help craft the north star strategy for products with a path to incremental transition from current state.
* Build and deepen partnerships with leaders across product, engineering, and design both in and outside of AWS Fintech to achieve customer experience goals while scaling your impact.
* Influence the product roadmap by partnering with colleagues both within and outside the AWS Fintech org to map service blueprints that tie disparate products into one cohesive resource management ecosystem across Amazon.
* Create intuitive user interface designs while insisting on highest standards and defend these designs successfully in reviews with stakeholders in product/engineering leadership across the org.
* Write effective documents such as a one-pagers outlining UX milestones to improve CSAT or NPS scores, collaborating with cross-org partners, or setting up comprehensive research studies for the program.
* Manage a UX team effectively along with the UX backlog with clear priorities outlined for the quarter/specific sprint using tools like Asana. Report status of the work in progress to stakeholder leadership through Monthly Business Reviews.
* Discern repeating patterns to recommend common UI services that can be leveraged across products.
* Help up-level the team with UX skill trainings, sharing best practices on scaling impact, and hosting team events to build an inclusive culture.
A day in the life
You will be working closely with leaders and teams across product, engineering, and design. You will also build key partnerships with customers both from the AWS finance org and also from other AWS teams. We host UX sprint demos for product/eng partners and internal design studio time to review progress of assigned priorities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 10+ years of design experience
– 5+ years of leading multi-discipline Design teams (ie. visual design, interaction design, user research, etc.) experience
– Experience managing teams
– Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design
– Experience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
