Driver I – Per Diem

Shift gears to a career with a future! Asbury Solomons is searching for a Licensed Driver to operate company vans and small buses, load and unload goods, equipment, materials and passengers between various destinations.

  • Title: Driver I
  • Status: Per Diem as needed
  • Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year stable work experience as a professional driver transporting passengers.
  • Certification/Licensure: active state drivers license in good standing (no violations within 3 years)

Job Duties:

1. Never leaves vehicle running or leaves keys in vehicle while unattended.

2. Obeys all speed limits and traffic and parking control devices, on or off campus.

3. Operates vehicle only on established roadways and restricts use to official business.

4. Restricts use of vehicle to transport only passengers and their ancillary equipment.

5. Reports to manager any accident involving, or damage to, vehicle in a timely fashion.

6. Prior to end of shift, ensures that vehicle contains a minimum fuel level of ¾-tank and

properly completes and submits fuel charge receipts.

7. Maintains regular contact with Transportation Office by notifying them of any trips

added en-route and adding, canceling, or adjusting trips as directed.

8. Transports residents to medical appointments per assigned schedule.

9. Assists residents into and out of vehicle and wheelchairs and assists wheelchair

bound residents between vehicle and destination.

10. Loads and unloads required ancillary equipment (e.g. wheelchairs and walkers).

11. Picks up and delivers medical records, X-rays, etc.

12. Volunteers for fair share of after-hours field trips and also accepts assignment for

non-volunteered after-hours field trips.

13. Ensures that pick-up of all residents has been arranged prior to end of shift.

14. Accepts last-minute extra hours assignments to accommodate resident needs.

15. Delivers daily transportation schedules and pick-up notices to Reception desks.

16. Accepts and records appointment information on appropriate form.

17. Assists in entering appointment information into Schedule database, maintenance

and fuel use information into Vehicle database, and maintaining and updating Doctors

and Destinations database as assigned.

18. Properly and fully completes all Bus Trip Sheets and Vehicle Inspection Sheets.

19. Follows established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking

regulations, infection control, etc.

20. Fully executes Daily Vehicle inspection procedures at beginning of each shift.

21. Adheres to Standards of Attendance.

22. Performs other duties, as assigned.
