Sr Mgr, Theatrical Dist, MGM

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatrical Distribution Executive to join our team. As a Theatrical Distribution Executive, you will be responsible for overseeing the distribution of films to theaters, ensuring their successful release and maximizing box office revenues. You will work closely with exhibition, and other industry stakeholders to execute effective distribution strategies. You will oversee all daily operations for our distribution department which cover sales/distribution, in-theatre marketing, operations, post work and cash receivable responsibilities.

Key job responsibilities
• Oversee and analyze over 5,000 theaters and 40,000 screens for each release.
• Establish release locations, quotas, and goals with department head for each picture across North America.
• Provide script coverage for MGM, Orion and Amazon titles we are looking to produce or

acquire.
• Provide relative comps for all MGM, Orion and Amazon titles we are looking to produce or

acquire to determine profitability levels in North America.
• Determine release dates with department head by analyzing the current marketplace and past performance of similar

films throughout the year.
• Project all future titles in the marketplace 3 years into the future to determine marketplace

conditions and help date all MGM, Orion, and Amazon films.
• Provide special screening, release strategies and ideas prior to each release with exhibitors and department heads to help launch or start early WOM on each film.
• Provide strategies with department head for wide release commercial films as well as launch strategies for limited release films.
• Determine holdover policies with department head on a weekly basis, picture-by-picture, to maximize revenue on each individual film.
• Deals with all holdover issues or problems on a weekly basis with all exhibitors.
• Negotiates and deals with all vendors regarding our TDS (Hollywood Software) booking system

as well as ComScore (provides all North American box office gross).
• Projects and estimates all weekend box office numbers in North America on a weekly basis.
• Helps secure and negotiate trailer coverage as needed.
• Analyzes and sets up all research screenings as needed with exhibitors for each film.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven experience in theatrical distribution or exhibition, preferably in a leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of the film industry, including distribution models, release strategies, and exhibition practices.

• Strong analytical skills: Ability to analyze market trends, box office data, and audience preferences to inform distribution strategies and decision-making.
• Negotiation skills: Excellent negotiation and deal-making abilities to secure favorable distribution agreements and maximize revenue potential.
• Communication and interpersonal skills: Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, build relationships, and convey distribution strategies clearly.
• Organizational and project management skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple film releases simultaneously, coordinate logistics, and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate execution of distribution plans and adherence to contractual obligations.
• Flexibility and adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, industry trends, and evolving distribution platforms.
• Computer literacy: Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools for distribution, scheduling, and data analysis.
• Passion for film: A genuine passion for film and a deep understanding of the audience’s preferences, tastes, and behaviors.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $297,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
