Summary
The Network Infrastructure Manager of Information Technology is responsible for the viability of the network as it relates to network hardware, network software, communications, system usage, and educational activities. Responsibility also includes network software usage, security, access controls, backups, disaster recovery, email functionality, and maintaining and securing college information systems. Finally, the Network Infrastructure Manager of Information Technology also is encouraged to seek and recommend changes for the improvement of the Computer Services department and North Florida College infrastructure in order to serve the college’s computing needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Below are listed the primary tasks identified for this position. The duties articulated though not exhaustive, indicate the majority of the functions assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned based on institutional need.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the continuous operation and maintenance of the North Florida College network infrastructure.
- Performs day-to-day operations ensuring availability, performance, and effective support for all network, applications, and systems communication. Maintains network stability, traffic monitoring, analysis, configuration, to ensure high availability, improved performance and Computer Services Network Infrastructure is secure.
- Coordinate with other Computer Services staff and student employees.
- Consider and recommend for Computer Services employee training.
- Maintenance and support of routers, switches, firewalls, secure wireless networks, site-to-site security, and client VPN.
- Provides knowledge expertise and support for projects as it pertains to communications, networking, and security.
- Develop and maintain operational documents, standards, guidelines, and policies as required.
- Maintain, update, upgrade, and support the network infrastructure as required.
- Assist in preparation and production of technical specifications for the network infrastructure.
- Establishes and maintains a comprehensive network management control system that adheres to best practices and standards.
- Liaises with the third-party teams as necessary to achieve North Florida College’s and Computer Services networking and security goals.
- Consults and coordinates team effort and participates in all aspects of systems and network operations.
- Provides support to the Chief Information Officer for campus network security needs.
- Serves as consultant for other applications and future technologies and serves as a liaison on committees, task forces, evaluation groups and negotiating for associated projects.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with users, staff, faculty, management, executive level, and external vendors.
- Coordinates planning, support, and maintenance of application infrastructure with information technology teams to assure business continuity and availability of services to campus community.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University is preferred, but other relevant certifications are considered. CCNA, and CCNP are preferred, but not required. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in enterprise network administration. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in enterprise project management. Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
Required technical experience includes:
- Extensive network infrastructure knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- Information Technology knowledge and skills to plan, manage, and coordinate support requirements and elements pertaining to systems, network, application, security, communication, etc.
- Cisco routing and switching, and network architecture expertise.
- Experience in the installation and support of wireless networks and access points.
- Experience in designing network and sub-networks over various physical and virtual environments.
- Experience in installation and management of routers, switches, and other network technologies.
- Knowledge of virtualization management technologies required; Specifically, VMWare is a plus but not required.
- Establishes effective working relationships for team and external with College departments and provide quality customer service to handle issues, priorities, and situations that occur.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. Research, evaluate, and recommend future initiatives and technologies for North Florida College.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain and manage a highly available, robust, and secure network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Best Practices policies and procedures and the ability to coordinate team efforts to create and implement standard policies and procedures for Information Technology at North Florida College.
Supplemental Information
This position will work with our CIO and Computer Services Department at North Florida College’s main campus. There is some flexibility in scheduling and the possibility of some remote work.
