Sr. Process Improvement Specialist

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Sr. Process Improvement Specialist who will support program and project managers and respective teams to implement organizational processes and best practices.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs process and product evaluations (audits) to ensure compliance with DMI and project established policies, processes, procedures and applicable standards (ISO, CMMI-DEV, CMMI-SVC, ITIL, PMBoK).
  • Must have experience and been directly involved in implementing the following frameworks: ISO 20000 and 27001, ISO 9001:2008, CMMI-DEV/CMMI-SVC Level 3, and ITIL.
  • Must have experience training on the above named frameworks.
  • Evaluate software development and service performance and deliverables against process documentation, project schedule, and quality standards.
  • Performs a variety of technical and administrative activities related to the function of QA (auditing), including, but not limited to, scheduling, checklist development, report writing, facilitating root cause/lessons learned analysis, and internal/external presentations.
  • Analyzes, compiles, and reports on findings of non-compliance and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Tracks and escalates unresolved non-compliance issues and corrective and preventative action plans to closure.
  • Collects metrics, analyzes, and reports various measures to project manager/team and Corporate QA.
  • Maintain the process assets library for the company, including all process definitions, templates, and document samples.
  • Provide training for DMI employees for CMMI, ISO, and ITIL frameworks as well as project management best practices.
  • Interfaces with external and internal customers to ensure project quality work products have been provided.
  • Supports Corporate QA initiatives as appropriate (i.e., CMMI Level 3 assessment, ISO re-certifications, etc.); may participate as a SCAMPI Team Member during SCAMPI B/A maturity level assessments, and ISO Internal Auditor. Should have hands-on experience as a project team member or real-life understanding of software development, support desk, and/or maintenance and operation type projects (i.e., requirements analysis, testing, software development, help desk staff, etc.).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supports Innovation Acceleration lead in optimizing TDL processing activities to enable Continuous Improvement and Continuous Delivery.
  • Analyze current development procedures and standards to identify inefficiencies.
  • Identify systemic issues related with scrap or inefficient processes and determine effective solutions to lower costs, increase productivity, quality and safety.
  • Evaluates development processes by designing and conducting evaluations; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing inspection methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; validating development processes. Receives metrics from Mission Assurance on premature failures of fielded components or systems.
  • Provides process improvement analysis and recommended solutions to premature failure of fielded components or systems to design team for inclusion on subsequent variants.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
  • Degree in Data Analytics or STEM relevant field
  • AGILE/SCRUM certified
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Experience in Design, Development and Research
  • Effective oral and written communicator
  • Proficient with MS Office(Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experienced with software and hardware automations to accelerate delivery

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prototyping experience
  • Space and Cyber operations Fluent
  • Well-versed in concepts of OSI/DoD Network Layers/functions
  • Joint Operations Planning Experience
  • Knowledgable in Kill chain Analysis
  • Use of Atlassian JIRA tools, software used to guide and manage project software/hardware development and tracking and resolution of issues.
  • Familiarity with C++, Python, MATLAB programming languages.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
