Amazon is seeking a highly motivated certified LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt Senior Program Manager to join our NA Surface Transportation Safety & Compliance team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about safety and compliance and possesses a strong project management background. They will have experience in development and implementation of safety management systems, and work-process simplification.
Your role’s purpose will be to identify opportunities and own scalable data-centric solutions to reduce safety events. To accomplish this purpose, you will need to build and deploy safety mechanisms in partnership with business, tech, and operations partners to improve on-road safety and compliance across middle-mile operations. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. You must be comfortable diving deep on the strategic, technical, and tactical levels, simultaneously acting as an internal ambassador, educator, analyst, solutions architect, and implementer. You will think up, propose, design, and implement BIG ideas to improve safety and compliance across a blend of internal customers and external drivers and carriers.
Key job responsibilities
– Deliver complex, large scale, strategic programs from initiation through delivery, on-time, on-budget and with quality
– Proactively identify and mitigate program risks and obstacles by collaborating closely with operations and business partners and key tech and non-tech stakeholders. This includes effectively communicating with, and influencing, senior, VP-level stakeholders across multiple parts of the organization.
– Become an expert in safety incident trends, root causes, and then design and implement creative solves.
– Build, design, and implement policy and process to reduce safety and compliance risk and liability from on-road operations.
– Build, design, and implement carrier safety evaluation KPIs to ensure best-in-class results across carriers.
– Identify defects and root cause drivers of safety and compliance trends, scope future state solutions, influence roadmap decisions, and measure the effectiveness of solutions that are implemented over time.
– Engage with drivers, carriers, and Amazon field teams to gain Voice of Customer feedback to improve our programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 8+ years of program or project management experience
– Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
– Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
– Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field required
– Certified LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt (upload certification with application)
– Strong data analytical skills and expertise with Excel and SQL
– Experience writing documents on topics such as process improvement proposals, business requirements, product roadmap, and proof of concept
– Strong analytical and organizational skills with demonstrated problem solving ability as demonstrated by previous work, investigations, and/or projects requiring data analysis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– MBA, or Masters in a quantitative field, with 3+ years’ experience in Project/Product Management or Program Management
– Proven capability working with, presenting to, and influencing senior executives up to VP level
– Ability to collaborate with a diverse set of business and technology stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities, manage risk, and resolve conflict
– Experience with FMCSA/DOT regulations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
