The Role: Evaluator ABS and MBS Valuations

The Team: S&P Global Securitized Products Pricing group provides independent evaluated pricing across Non-agency RMBS, Agency CMOs, Agency Pass-throughs, Consumer ABS, CMBS, European ABS, CDOs and CLOs. IHS Markit’s services are used by key financial institutions to help them optimize their price verification, audit, and risk management processes. The group is based in New York with teams in London and Noida.

The Impact: An opportunity exists for an evaluator role -within the Securitized Products pricing team. An evaluator will be responsible for pricing asset and mortgage-backed securities which are consumed by both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will understand priorities, assigned sectors to be priced, processes to be improved, and balance those with day-to-day business operations activities. The ideal person for this role is organized, analytical, attentive to detail, communicative and execute effectively and efficiently.

What’s in it for you: This is an exciting role for someone who is interested in learning about Securitized Products and broader fixed income market which includes Corporate and Municipal bonds, CDS and Syndicated loans. It will initially focus on mortgage and asset backed products which will expand over time to include other sectors within Securitized Products. It is a dynamic role that entails working with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize market color and information from Markit Parsing to better our pricing offering and accurately reflect changes in the market by editing assumptions and refining inputs.
  • Evaluate and generate cash flows and prices of Consumer ABS and Non-Agency RMBS sectors daily using internal and industry tools.
  • Analyze, research, and remediate client pricing challenges.
  • Client relationship management and engagement via pricing challenges, market color, product enhancement, methodology, sales process, and other related matters.
  • Work with the development team to build out and improve daily processes and enhance internal systems.
  • Assess relative value for securities by analyzing collateral market trends, prepayments, defaults, severity, variability in bond cashflows, and comparisons with other markets.
  • Work within Securitized Products and the broader organization to effect change and identify opportunities to grow the business.

What We’re Looking For:

  • University Degree (minimum Bachelor) in Financial Engineering / Finance / Economics / Mathematics / Computer Science and 0-3 years’ experience within securitized products strongly preferred
  • Understanding of financial markets, knowledge of and exposure to Fixed Income products
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Excel.
  • Knowledge of SQL, VBA, and other programming languages advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with teams, senior members of the organization and clients.

Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US Candidates):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000-$85,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for annual bonus.
