A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Enables, designs, and supports the implementation of end-to-end automated processes and software solutions for the enterprise. Responsible for setting the standards using the tools and processes required to enable teams of various disciplines/subject-matter-expertise to handle multi-cloud automated CI/CD deployments, and software support and feature development at scale. Position requires ability to work in fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. Grow and enable a culture of autonomy to experiment with new/creative process and tech solution approaches across business domains while helping key stakeholders envision/explore new ambitious possibilities.

  • Provides leadership within the team by guiding and mentoring colleagues and junior members through the introduction of new tools, technologies, programming languages, and methodologies aimed at improving current processes.
  • Helps lead and develop the culture, talents, and experiences of R&D, IT, and cross-functional teams.
  • Creates overarching architectural standards for application and process frameworks which adhere to regulatory, and security requirements with emphasis on: (in order to enable further reliability/scalability regardless of operating system or platform)
    • Modern Software Development Practices at the application/API/process feature level
    • Modern Software Development/DevOps and CI/CD practices at the build/test/deployment level
    • Modern Software Development/DevOps practices at the platform level (Cloud (public and private)//Systems/Networking/Security/Database Management)
  • Collaborates with Product Owners to continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of software service design/architecture, and build/deployment processes to support all phases of development, QA, and production releases.
  • Codes, builds, automates, and maintains tools for build, deployment, monitoring, and operations in Linux, MacOS, and Windows. (only our process/code should matter, not the operating system).
  • Resolves issues in a 24/7 high-availability environment.
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other Regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

  • Technical knowledge of the following technologies and programming languages:
  • Able to develop working baselines by aligning modern tooling and technologies to company needs.
    • Ability to utilize new programming languages to support initiatives as needed.
    • Ability to train personnel and present ideas in user-friendly language.
    • Production-level experience PostgreSQL MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server.
    • Production-level experience with Python, PowerShell, Typescript, Bash, Go
    • Production-level experience with Ansible, HashiCorp Packer, Terraform, Consul, and Vault for secret management.
    • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes – k8s/k3s)
    • Production-level knowledge on scalable service discovery/health definitions
    • Working technical knowledge of web applications and platforms including IIS, HAProxy, Nginx, Apache
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Work alongside other technical leads to integrate designs that are well documented.
  • Proficient communication to both technical and management levels. Ability to work in cross functional teams.
  • Skilled at creating an environment which supports the timely exchange of high-quality information.
  • Adaptability to implement change initiatives quickly and proactively, providing guidance to others in meeting changing needs.
  • Perform cost-performance reviews of existing cloud resources, access to opportunities for reducing/optimizing costs.
  • Strong ability to complete deliverables on multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies (e.g., sprints, story point evaluation, project structures)
  • Knowledge and experience with FDA and ISO regulated industries, a plus.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies (HashiCorp stack) and public cloud services (experience with GCP, Azure or AWS, Azure is preferred)

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • B.S. in Computer Science/related major or equivalent combination of existing education and applicable job experience.
  • Equivalent education includes technical school training and certifications.
  • 8 years’ experience working in a software/cloud engineering systems including:
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Bash, Python, and PowerShell. Experience with object-oriented programming, .Net, Node Js or similar.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Expert in modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Automate continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines.
  • Architecture: Able to set and execute architectural standards compliant with regulations. Azure or similar Cloud Operations, architecture, data flow, integrations.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Proven team leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High Availability: Capable of 24/7 issue resolution. Deep production troubleshooting of microservices running in cloud systems.
  • Kubernetes & Containerization: Experienced in Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerization technologies. Kubernetes production experience, Kubernetes Ingress, cluster monitoring.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $130,000 – $155,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.
