What you will be doing
The Strategic Sourcing Department has an opening for a Sourcing Analyst III. This position is located in Pleasanton, California.
Main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Source various categories that are medium complexity and in annual spend more than $75M; utilizing the various standard sourcing processes adopted by the Strategic Sourcing Department.
- Provided thought leadership and subject matter expertise to execute sourcing initiatives in support of the Own Brands business priorities.
- Lead Own Brands new item/innovation sourcing for multiple categories.
- Develop and negotiate contract terms including executing and implementing contracts. Interface with Safeway’s Legal Counsel as needed to obtain approval on legal terms.
- Gather bid data, analyze complex bid submissions, and make advanced financial scenario modeling to showcase award recommendations to sourcing management and business units.
- Summarize financials and present recommendations to business unit and senior management.
- Manage the disco process for the assigned categories including analyzing inventory liabilities and communication to stakeholders.
- Manage cost increase process and negotiations for the assigned categories including analysis, negotiations, and communication to stakeholders.
- Conduct supply assurance projects to onboard secondary suppliers to help improve category service level.
- Conduct Industry analysis and identify industry trends.
- Identify and execute cost savings initiatives that support the department’s overall savings goal, deliver improved quality, cost, service, and innovation.
- Lead supplier transitions when required by monitoring liabilities, enabling supplier set-up, and ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
- Manage supplier relationships with primary responsibility for bringing resolution on a day-to-day issue related to pricing, product availability, and ongoing projects.
- Adhere to the Sourcing department’s SOX policies and procedures.
California:
The salary range is $ 80,100 to $104,160 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
What we are searching for
Education Level:
Preferred degree in: Economics, Mathematics, Food Science, Managerial Economics, or Finance.
Experience Level:
- 3 -5 years’ experience and the education listed above
- 3 + years of negotiating contracts, managing strategic supplier alliances and buying/sourcing experience
Skills and Experiences:
- Excellent understanding of the supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, logistics) for multiple consumable categories, preferably including Food and Beverage.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with Advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems including various sources of data to build a business case.
- Excellent presentation and influencing skills using PowerPoint to make recommendations to leadership.
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects teams ensuring timelines are met and results are exceeded via strong relationship and collaboration skills.
- Able to communicate clearly, turning complex analysis into simple messages.
- High energy level, initiative, creative problem-solving ability, and sense of urgency.
- Excellent team interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while providing superior service.
- Able to identify and implement business process opportunities to continuously improve department efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Passion for the food, retail, or consumer packaged goods industry.
