What you will be doing

The Supply Chain Department has an opening for a Senior Sourcing Manager. This position is located in Pleasanton, California

Main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Sourcing (70%)

  • Lead a group of direct reports with total category annual spend of $250M+
  • Deep category and industry expert in the field and develop category playbooks / roadmaps to enhance strategic partnerships through RFPs, negotiations, and joint business planning.
  • Drive and lead process improvements and collaborate closely with cross functional teams and business leaders/stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing strategies.
  • Closely partner with National Category Directors to implement sourcing strategies to ensure supply while delivering best cost and quality.
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise to execute sourcing initiatives in support of the Own Brands business priorities.
  • Position the sourcing organization as a trusted partner to our internal stakeholders to ensure supply, reduce cost of goods spend, standardize and streamline processes, and implement strategic sourcing strategies that deliver tangible value to the organization.
  • Build project plans and timelines to ensure key milestones are being captured and met as it relates to sourcing process
  • Lead and conduct complex strategic negotiations for different categories, as well as lead a team of 3-5 direct reports
  • Oversee and present strategic complex financial models and analysis that drive cost savings and cost avoidance.
  • Deliver accurate financial reporting of cost savings to various business units senior leadership
  • Work closely with legal and business partners to negotiate the most optimal contracts in both business and legal terms
  • Adhere to and ensure the assigned staff are SOX compliant and adhere to all policies and processes
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive the decision-making process during negotiation events.
  • Lead and support staff in building new negotiation strategies during event negotiation as the environment dynamically changes.
  • Lead change management within the impacted groups to transition them to adopting new business processes and technologies.

Leadership and Management (30%)

  • Mentor/coach analysts/sourcing managers through the use of Strategic Sourcing processes and tools required to meet their job requirements and goals.
  • Train and coach on building their skills to become strategic sourcing experts this includes understanding the industry, negotiations, contracts and developing complex financial models.
  • Develop product knowledge and understanding of category roles and business strategy in the group.
  • Develop training plan for direct report and department to ensure continuous team growth.
  • Develop and continuously provide feedback on training and mentoring process.

California:

The salary range is $102,700 to $143,800 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

What we are searching for

Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Logistics preferred.

Experience Level:

  • 8+ years’ experience and /or the education listed above.
  • 8+ years of negotiating contracts, managing strategic supplier alliances and buying experience.

Skills and Experiences:

  • Strong ability to negotiate internally and externally to achieve required objectives and executes and implement contracts.
  • Strong ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong meeting management and facilitation skills.
  • Good understanding or manufacturing, distribution and logistics.
  • Exceptional complex analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of sourcing systems and preferable e-sourcing technology.
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise wide systems.
  • Working knowledge of contract law, government policies and regulations for the food and drug industry.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills.
  • High energy level, initiative, creative problem-solving ability and sense of urgency.
  • Excellent team interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while providing superior service.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead and/or mentor coach team

Travel Requirements:

  • 10% Travel Required
