Job Summary

We are seeking a senior-level systems administrator experienced in Windows and Linux environments with knowledge of VMware virtualization, system backup best practices, and HPE 3PAR storage arrays and HPE DL Servers. Essential duties include:

  • Working directly with programs to ensure Information Technology infrastructure solutions meet the program requirements and schedules and perform a multi-disciplined range of technical systems and application activities, including installing, configuring, and maintaining multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components.
  • Administering and managing Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments; administering a hybrid Microsoft 365 and on-premises environment; maintaining Windows Systems comprised of servers and workstations; and administering installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management.
  • Responsible for resolving various complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems, and installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory domains and forests.
  • Perform system and user account maintenance.
  • Test and assess the security configuration of Windows and Linux servers. Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance.
  • Analyze, test, and implement security patches and promote standard operating procedures, and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Participate in internal/external security audits/inspections.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, and maintains multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components.
  • Administer and manage Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments.
  • Administer a hybrid Microsoft 365 and on-premises environment.
  • Maintains Windows Systems comprised of servers and workstations.
  • Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management.

  • Network monitoring & alerting (Nagios, Logic Monitor)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required:

  • Experience performing system administration tasks on Windows and Linux hosts, including installing security patches and making configuration changes to support security requirements.
  • Experience integrating hardware and software components into a functional system.
  • Experience in computing administration, including managing Microsoft active directory design, deploy, and operational support.
  • Experience working with Virtualized Systems (i.e., VMWare) design and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of standardized Network Protocols and Services (i.e., TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Group Policy management
  • Experience with scripting for task automation (PowerShell, Batch, BASH)
  • Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience with Linux RedHat/CentOS 7, 8
  • Experience with shell scripting (BASH, TCSH, and KSH)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must be able to multitask in a dynamic environment; develop solutions to various complex problems and plan, schedule, and prioritize tasks.

Desired:

  • Experience maintaining and operating a Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
  • Experience with systems management and automation software (Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible)
  • Administration of HPE 3PAR Arrays and HPE DL Servers
  • Basic understanding of LDAP and SAML
  • Experience with Veeam

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 6+ years of related experience in a network/system administration-related support role
