The Infrastructure organization within AWS is responsible for creating an optimized supply-chain platform that delivers all of Amazon’s storage and compute capacity at the lowest possible cost. The AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery team is responsible for ensuring we have infrastructure available to meet our customer’s needs.
We have an opening for a Sr. TIPM who will be responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of upgrades, and optimization of our existing data centers.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 5+ years of experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives, as well as strategic program management.
A Bachelor’s Degree or additional technical experience is required. Candidates possessing a background in software/hardware engineering, infrastructure operations, analytical data mining and/or software development who have transitioned to a program management discipline will have a distinct advantage.
Candidate must be comfortable supporting project delivery teams, and regional business development teams. Ability to work cross-functional matrix-based teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders across multiple time zones, and develop workflows that eliminate non-value-add activity, remove blockers, and find creative ways to optimize our existing data centers.
Key job responsibilities
Manage the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and negotiate the trade-offs needed.
Create and execute long range models working with finance and development teams to build medium and long range plans.
Provide program progress reporting on a regular basis to senior leadership. Articulating root-cause analysis, and linking to specific improvement areas.
Summarize escalation support and critical leadership decisions.
End to end responsibility for the Site Upgrade program execution and success. Plan data center de-scaling projects in order to optimize AWS’s infrastructure regions from availability, cost, and risk perspectives.
Manage multiple competing projects/programs simultaneously.
Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.
Develop and implement scalable, data-driven process improvement/automated solutions.
Build program mechanisms that monitor and escalate against the health of infrastructure asset migration and retirement plans needed for critical infrastructure projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience in technical leadership roles; technical program management, or Cloud Infrastructure
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to lead and influence across different organizations and align diverse teams to a common goal
5+ Years Experience with end to end program management
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience implementing Amazon Web Services technology
Master’s Degree or advanced professional degree
Experience in management of complex technology infrastructure projects, network design, or business development.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market.
