Amazon’s Pack Innovation team is looking for an experienced, driven, and analytical Sr. Technical Program Manager with outstanding leadership skills to lead a critical component of Amazon’s Climate Pledge. Pack Innovation sets the global, multi-year strategic packaging vision to drive waste and cost reduction and contribute directly to Amazon’s Climate Pledge goals. Our products are public facing and provide a unique opportunity to interact with end customers on every order. The Ship In Own Container (SIOC) standards team to which this role will report owns enabling new SIOC standards by removing the restrictions that prevent products from shipping as SIOC today. This role will own the technical program management of mechanisms that control packaging decisions, which support each new SIOC standard.
This role will interface with core Operations, Finance, AFT, Data Science, Pack Innovation PMT, and BI/DE/SysDev to enable scalable mechanisms that (1) evaluate new products for SIOC (e.g. product testing UI software and ML systems) and (2) track performance of new SIOC standards programs (e.g. dashboards and ML systems), for each new SIOC standard. The ultimate goal for this Technical Program Manager is to scale the process of introducing new SIOC standards to make it seamless as we grow SIOC shipment share each year in line with our Climate Pledge goals.
You will be successful in this role if you can (1) translate business requirements to technical requirements, (2) collaborate and influence the priorities of cross-functional organizations to rapidly deliver scalable solutions for both short- and long-term needs, and (3) independently identify and close gaps in scalability. You must be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues, deep diving large data sets, and solving problems independently. You will have high ownership of your work, as proven by a record of driving projects to their completion. You are detail-oriented, agile, with strong time management, communication, and project management skills, and have experience working across Amazon’s Supply Chain. Finally, you are comfortable working through ambiguity and driving large-scale changes in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment with fast delivery time and rapid iteration.
Key job responsibilities
• Travel 25% of the time, generating on-the-ground conversations, insights, and regional improvements
• Collaborate with BI/Data Engineering teams to drive the delivery of KPIs for all SIOC programs
• Provide clear and timely reporting of key performance metrics across internal & external stakeholders
• Work closely with technical leaders and product managers to compose and influence product vision, roadmap, and org goals
• Write effective narratives and presenting them to Directors and VP’s
• Be a technical problem solver on the team, identifying innovative solutions to project roadblocks
• Reduce cross-organizational exposure to classic failure modes (e.g. requirements not sufficiently understood/documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, inadequate system design, insufficient testing/gaps in QA, etc.)
• Demonstrate strong program management, organizational, and leadership skills to facilitate effective, collaborative project meetings
• Drive meaningful sustainability discussions to the forefront of operational leaders to model the Leadership Principle “Success and Scale Bring Broad Responsibility”
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience defining KPI’s/SLA’s used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Structured thinking and problem solving, including analytical skills and the ability to write SQL scripts for analysis and reporting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
- Proven analytical and quantitative skills with ability to code in SQL or similar language; ability to use data to back up assumption and troubleshoot to drive actions and results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
