Sr. TPM – Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Senior Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will help define and develop the interfaces, requirements, and lead technical efforts and reviews. This role includes direct responsibility for system level development, integration, and test and all program management. You will have significant influence over the design and the test approach we take to develop the system.

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven’t been solved at scale before. Key job responsibilities

This position requires an engineering, systems, and program management. A Senior TPM anticipates bottlenecks, uses great judgment to make trade-offs, influences multiple technical teams and balances the business needs with technical constraints. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to deliver large, complex projects on-time across multiple engineering domains is invaluable.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science , Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

– 7+ years of hardware, software, system integration and test development of complex systems across the full product life cycle – concept to production.

– 4+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams delivering products on schedule.

– Proficiency with at least one schedule tracking tools such as MS Project, SmartSheet or alternative.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Master’s degree in Electrical engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

– Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions between Hardware, Firmware and Software teams to define and drive scope and clarity of work, and reach optimum system level trades.

– Experience developing high-performance systems for aerospace applications.

– Excellent oral and written communication skills.

– Track record of successfully delivering complete systems (hardware, firmware, software) on time, to scope, with high quality.

– Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization.

– Ability to effectively escalate while maintain trust of the team.

– Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.

– High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

– Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
