The Project Kuiper User Experience Team is a multidisciplinary design and research team within Amazon Devices and Services that is responsible for crafting the user experiences that Kuiper’s residential and enterprise customers use to discover, acquire and manage their internet service and devices. Our mission is to design usable, frictionless, accessible, our customers will love. We are setting a new bar for what the user experience can be when customers interact with the web and mobile interfaces of an Internet Service provider (ISP).
We are looking for a Sr. User Interface Designer to join our growing UX Team. For this role, we are looking for a UI designer with a background in visual design and experience delivering individual page specs, page and task flows, UI components and patterns and functional mockups. We are seeking a designer who is also capable of producing high-level design deliverables such as storyboards and high-fidelity wireframes used to communicate the design vision. Candidates with experience engaging with Marketing teams to ensure branding standards and stylistic guidelines are applied to the final visual design are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key job responsibilities
– Design beautiful, useful, and desirable user interfaces and experiences in a team environment
– Create user-centered designs by considering user research, customer feedback, metrics, and usability findings
– Use business requirements and user research as inputs to developing user interaction scenarios, design use cases, and design workflows
– Deliver conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
– Deliver and maintain detailed user-interface components, design patterns, specifications and design guidelines
– Implement and maintain processes for scaling, updating, managing various parts of a design system
– Lead cross-functional design review meetings for input and sign-off on UI design artifacts; lead executive-level stakeholder review meetings.
– Create design briefs, proposals, reports, and executive summaries as needed to keep the product team and executive leadership team informed of UI design opportunities and design progress.
– Develop annotated wireframes to maintain documentation of design rational and decisions. Provide design clarification and consultation as needed to engineers when UI features are being developed.
– Lead visual UI design by driving the creative execution of the Kuiper brand for app-based and web-based experiences.

A day in the life
Project Kuiper’s success requires leaders who are owners, and who possess the entrepreneurial spirit needed to create new products. Leaders will solve complex, cutting-edge problems and get things done. As a UI Lead, you will collaborate and collect design inputs from a team of UX Designers and Researchers and you will design scalable UI design system solutions for Kuiper desktop and mobile user experiences.. You will partner with product team stakeholders including product management, marketing and engineering) to ensure UI designs meet requirements and work to ensure release and roadmap goals to be met. You will also support Kuiper business, legal, finance, accounting and tax teams by producing UI deliverables that are needed for business planning purposes. You will write proposals, reports and other documents to help drive clarity, reduce ambiguity and help set direction. You must be proactive, creative, flexible, resilient, and able to handle high levels of complexity and ambiguity. You will collaborate on a daily basis with a world-class, multi-disciplinary team of design, product, and engineering professionals working on some of the most challenging problems at Amazon today.
A successful candidate will be curious, creative, highly analytical, and excellent communicator and able to work autonomously to drive impact as part of a large growing cross-functional team. Designers who have experience participating in foundational customer research (interviews, observational studies, contextual inquiry, etc.) and who are also adept at leading internal and external design workshops and design discovery activities are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be capable of synthesizing a variety of inputs to design UI patterns and solutions that solve problems for customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Online portfolio demonstrating samples of design deliverables is required to apply for this role (Please include link in resume or indication of online portfolio availability)
– 6+ years of user interface, user interaction, and/or user experience design experienceHave an available online design portfolio demonstrating strong visual design skill, relevant experience, and measurable results
– 6+ years of design experience creating UI mockups, wireframes and prototypes for web and mobile applications and/or workflows.
– Bachelor’s degree in HCI, UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent design-related field
– Experience using best practices for information architecture and design, as well as knowledge of usability principles and techniques
– Proficient designing using design systems / design frameworks
– Proficient using tools such as Figma for prototyping design concepts and for defining and documenting the user interface architecture (UI patterns, components and guidelines).
– Demonstrated history of collecting or assisting with the collection of user insights and feedback (e.g., customer interviews, usability studies, performing user research) and leveraging feedbacks for creating personas, journey maps, etc.
– Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity and a track record of leading UI design projects that have launched
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience with consumer brand experience design and an understanding of storytelling
– Ability to extract abstract concepts and quickly turn around rigorous flows and mockups reflecting a range of options
– Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides
– Additional design skills in related fields, including motion design, prototyping, and web design/development
– Experience in applying and advocating for best practices for accessible UX. Experience designing for federal 508 Compliance a plus.
– Proficiency in presenting design work to user experience teams, business teams, product and engineering teams, and executives for review and feedback
– Experience with the principles behind Behavior Design
– Knowledge with the fundamentals of cognitive psychology
– Working knowledge of the foundations of engineering principles and how design translates into code
– Proficiency with prototyping tools used by designers and engineers to build immersive experiences
– Ability to prototype in environments like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS a plus but not required
– Ability to manage multiple projects and make impact in a fast-paced environment.
– Adobe Creative Cloud experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar) a plus
– Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to articulate the rationale behind your design decisions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
