Futures Design is the advanced concept design and incubation team within Amazon’s Device and Services Design Group (DDG). We are responsible for exploring and defining think (very) big opportunities globally and locally – so that we can better understand how new products and services might enrich the lives of our customers and so that product teams and leaders can align on where we’re going and why we’re going there. We focus on a 3-10+ year time frame, with the runway to invent and design category-defining products and transformational customer experiences. Working with Amazon business and technology partners, we use research, design, and prototyping to guide early product development, bring greater clarity to engineering goals, and develop a UX-grounded point of view.
As a UX Designer in Futures Design, you are fluent in a range of interdisciplinary design skills. You have the sensibility of a designer, the logic of an engineer, the ability to converse fluently with creative, business and technical teams, and an endless passion for learning and tinkering with unproven and emerging technologies. And you know how to ground new ideas in real customer needs. You have a deep understanding of graphic, product and digital design, with an exceptional eye for detail. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed in a highly collaborative
environment.
Key job responsibilities
– Design beautiful, useful, and desirable user experiences in a team environment
– Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, future trends, and usability findings
– Use business requirements, user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements
– Design architecture, interface, and interaction flow of applications, devices and interconnected experiences encompassing digital interfaces, physical devices and virtual environments
– Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
– Be a passionate and effective advocate for design with non-design audiences
– Write effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 6+ years of design experience
– Have an available online portfolio
– Experience in a design tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe CC and Keynote.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes
– Experience with UX design of complex workflows
– Experience creating inspiring Northstar design concepts that inform the future vision for a digital product
– Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
– Experience partnering with technical product and engineering partners for design implementation
– Experience designing for mobile apps or other interactive digital platforms.
– Ability to navigate ambiguity to drive the design cycle and multitask in an fast-paced environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
