Sr. Water Stewardship Program Manager, AWS Water Team

Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to join the AWS water infrastructure team in support of its Water+ commitment (https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/aws/aws-water-positive-by-2030). In this role, you will develop and implement a pipeline of projects that advance water sustainability across AWS’s global water infrastructure footprint. You will be responsible for tracking and managing delivery of multiple water infrastructure projects both inside and outside the data centers, and across different geographies to ensure that they are delivered on schedule. You will develop detailed project schedules and risk registers, provide thought leadership, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, ensure that projects have the resources required for delivery, and communicate results to leadership. You will also be directly responsible for delivery of multiple infrastructure projects annually, project managing them concurrently with managing the overall global portfolio. This role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a sustainable and cost effective water supply to AWS’s data centers across the globe.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr. Water Stewardship Program Manager will be responsible for the following:
• Execute comprehensive water infrastructure delivery program to meet AWS water sustainability/stewardship goals.
• Work with project delivery leads to develop and continuously update detailed project schedules, risk registers, and budgets.
• Lead a weekly project review of project schedules and risk registers and highlight key blockers and risks to team leadership.
• Lead monthly budget reviews with finance and project leads.
• Work with internal engineering, operations, and other teams to ensure that data center projects are adequately resourced to meet target completion dates.
• Identify and develop cost savings opportunities related to delivery of sustainable water infrastructure.
• Travel (20-30%) as needed for site review, evaluations, commissioning of infrastructure projects.
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering/Urban Planning/Sustainability/Environmental Science
• 6+ years’ work experience in corporate sustainability experience (specifically corporate water stewardship/sustainability initiatives)
• 5+ years’ work experience managing multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem solving skills and ability to recommend actionable decisions with limited/uncertain data.
• 5+ year’s cultivating strong relationships with diverse set of internal and externals stakeholders and ability to communicate key messages to leadership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Advanced Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering/Urban Planning/Sustainability/Environmental Science
• Analytical mindset that can identify gaps in requirements during project development, predict performance, and have the ability to provide recommendations on a short notice and with limited information.
• 10+ years’ work experience in corporate sustainability experience (specifically corporate water stewardship/sustainability initiatives)
• Understanding of mechanical/plumbing related to data centers/buildings including but not limited to: chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, air handling units, air economizers.
• Experience with fast track design/build water projects and ability to deliver projects with varying regulatory requirements.
• Business experience across global geographies.
• Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
