This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak’s sole and absolute discretion.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Workforce Analytics Analyst is responsible for supporting the collection and review of workforce analytics through the production of periodic and ad hoc workforce reports and scenario modeling via the development of various database systems/solutions. This position will support the workforce planning processes for the Capital Delivery Department within Amtrak. The work will support a variety of expertise focused on understanding current and future workforce needs as well as the development of workforce strategies to support Amtrak’s strategic business plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Data Analysis
- Gather, analyze, and summarize data from multiple sources in support of disseminating meaningful workforce data and metrics to business partners throughout the organization
- Ensure the reliability and quality of underlying data and review the accuracy and appropriateness of reports; investigate and troubleshoot data issues
- Analyze historical data and trends to help forecast future contract volume and staff requirements
- Ensure all required Workforce Planning data is tracked and trended on a continuous basis
Workforce Planning and Analytics
- Design and support workforce forecasts and cost models needed to assess future workforce requirements and inform workforce strategy decisions
- Recommend appropriate processes and strategies to meet business staffing needs.
- Identify potential resources to support and improve upon workforce analytic processes
- Prepare updated staffing plans based on future product releases and product launches and changing business needs
- Create and validate ongoing staffing models to ensure service level targets are consistently met
- Develop reporting to allow workforce planning to compare resource requirements with available resources to identify and solve potential gaps
- Provide ongoing adjustments to the forecast model based on actual results and real-time activity
- Develop models and systems utilizing database / programming skillset with an emphasis on requirements gathering, building, user acceptance testing, and deploying a finished, user-friendly product
Project Support
- Create and manage data analysis to ensure timely and accurate delivery of deliverables; follow-up with team members to ensure projects stay on track
- Provide project support for HR programs and processes disseminated to the businesses such as performance management and reward and recognition programs
- Support the delivery of key workforce metrics for both standardized/periodic HR reports and ad hoc requests including monthly headcount reporting to the businesses
- Execute reports using SAP, Success Factors, and other Human Resources information systems
- Support research for external market analyses to inform workforce location decisions
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required – with major in statistics or mathematics – OR equivalent combination of training, education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
MINIMUM KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Solid database development skills
- Proficient in MS Excel and Project
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to apply these efficiently to solve problems
- Critical thinker who can contribute to challenging assignments in a fast-paced environment
- Good decision-making skills and maintains calmness under tight pressure
- Ability to plan well and prioritize work
- Very good verbal and written communication and comprehension skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
TRAVEL: Travel up to 10%
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $63,580 – $82,400 for the Workforce Analytics Analyst position and $73,750 – $95,580 for the Sr Workforce Analytics Analyst position. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
