Position Summary
Position Summary: The Student – Art Lab Aide is responsible for assisting instructors with Ceramics, 3D Design/sculpture classes, studio organization and other necessary tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position: Assists with classroom organization, set up and clean-up to include sweeping and mopping Manages clay recycling, glaze making, materials and equipment in the Ceramics Studio Supervises open studio sessions for students to work in the studio outside of class time Interacts and communicates with the public and other employees in a courteous and professional manner Keeps art area and other assigned areas and equipment neat and orderly Loads and unloads kilns Performs other duties as assigned by the ceramics and 3D faculty and the art studio coordinator

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer
Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher
Completion of ART 273 or ART 274 preferred
Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Knowledge of utilization of art lab equipment and machinery
Knowledge of ceramics process
Skill in basic clay processing
Ability to report for work on time and notify the appropriate individual in advance if unable to work
Ability to recycle clay, measure and mix glazes
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Environment:Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office, classroom, or setting with appropriate climate controls.
Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
