About Indiana Finance Authority:

To provide economic efficiencies and management synergies and enable the State of Indiana (“State”) to communicate as one voice with the various participants in the financial markets, the Indiana Development Finance Authority, the State Office Building Commission, the Indiana Transportation Finance Authority, the Recreational Development Commission, the State Revolving Fund Programs and the Indiana Brownfields Program were consolidated into a new and separate entity called the Indiana Finance Authority (“IFA”) on May 15, 2005. The Indiana Health and Educational Facilities Finance Authority was also merged into the IFA, effective July 1, 2007.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at a range of $60,000 to $65,000 and is commensurate with education or work experience.

About the Job:

A Staff Accountant with responsibilities assisting with accounting, payroll, preparation and participation in external Audit. This position reports to the Controller.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Accounting:

  • Maintain the accounting ledgers for Programs in accordance with GAAP
  • Reconciliation of investment and trust accounts monthly
  • Prepare monthly reports for internal analysis
  • Prepare disbursements & reimbursements for Programs
  • Assist with closing books on a quarterly and yearly basis
  • Assist with development and adherence to internal controls
  • Assist with preparation of Annual and Biannual Budget
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly reporting and analysis (budget vs. actual)
  • Identify training needs to further develop accounting skills

Payroll:

  • Maintain payroll records
  • Execute Payroll on a biweekly basis
  • Assist internal & external users on payroll matters

Assist with preparation and participation in external Audit:

  • Prepare audit schedules as required
  • Meet with and discuss matters with External Auditors

What You’ll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Knowledge and skill typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree or comparable professional work experience may substitute for a degree;
  • Deadline oriented;
  • Time management; Attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of Excel; Experience with MAS 90/200 or comparable software a plus;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Problem solving.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
