Staff Applied Scientist – CRM Measurement

About the Role

Uber’s marketing science team is seeking an expert Applied Scientist to help us improve the way we test and measure the effectiveness of marketing communications. As a member of marketing science, you will not only be able to work with data, but also help define the way marketing performance is calibrated and what questions should be asked. You’ll play a huge part in finding opportunity fields to help the marketing function scale as we develop onboarding, engagement and retention strategies. You will also learn and apply advanced analytics skills like experimental design, statistical modeling, and more!

What you’ll Do

– Design and analyze experiments on marketing communications via email, push, and SMS
– Partner with marketing managers to understand and answer open questions about marketing effectiveness
– Collaborate with Applied Scientists in the Paid Marketing and Marketplace teams to leverage and disseminate best practices regarding experimentation and measurement

Basic Qualifications

– Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or other quantitative fields. (If M.S. degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 2+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent)
– Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, machine learning, optimization, economics, and analytics.
– Knowledge of experimental design and analysis
– Experience with exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis and testing, and model development
– Ability to use Python to work efficiently at scale with large data sets
– Proficiency in languages and tools like SQL, R, and Spark.

Preferred Qualifications

– 5+ years of experience in a data science or applied science role, especially in marketing science
– Demonstrable ability to develop and implement a scientific learning agenda
– Skilled in communicating complex topics to non-technical partners

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $203,000 per year – $225,500 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is $203,000 per year – $225,500 per year.
