Description

Performs a limited range of secretarial and clerical duties. Works under the general direction of the Staff Assistant II and, ultimately, the Animal Control Manager.

Essential Job Duties

  • Data entry of rabies vaccinations.
  • Assists in fulfilling records requests from the public.
  • Answers incoming calls from internal and external callers regarding public complaints and calls for service.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties, including sorting and distributing mail, copying, filing, faxing, scanning, entering data, etc.

Typical Requirements

Education/Experience:

High school diploma / GED and one to two years of related working experience or an equivalent combination of formal education and related working experience. Knowledge of Chameleon software is preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Must obtain FEMA IS-100.c, IS-200.c, IS-700.b, and IS-800.d certificates within 60 days of hire

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge and practice of organizational and time management skills.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer programs.

Knowledge of County Codes pertaining to animals.

Ability to operate various office equipment.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to use a personal computer and various computer programs.

Ability to maintain and update logs, files, and records with a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to prepare correspondence and reports.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to effectively interact and establish working relationships with the public, various agencies, and fellow employees.

Ability to research documents.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed inside an office environment
  • This position may require work during disasters (i.e., hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.)
