The Ohio State University Department of Athletics is seeking a Staff Athletic Trainer. The Staff Athletic Trainer is a member of the OSU Sports Performance team which serves to create an environment where all student athletes involved in the intercollegiate athletic program at Ohio State receive the best medical care possible. This position coordinates and provides health care and comprehensive athletic training services to student-athletes on the Track and Field team. Provides prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries under the direction of the managing team physician and athletic training supervisor. Serves as a resource for our student-athletes as it pertains to their health and wellness, and is the health care point of contact for physicians, coaches and sports performance team. Maintains accurate and up to date injury and treatment records in accordance with established medical documentation standards. Provides injury rehabilitation programs and implements changes in accordance with best practices. Consults with strength and conditioning staff to implement and/or modify conditioning activities to prevent injury. Establishes and monitors return to play progression from injury and modifies progression based on individualized response in consultation with team physician and athletic training supervisor. Will provide home and away competition coverage as assigned in order to provide acute injury evaluation and diagnosis for on field injuries. Will assist with Big Ten and NCAA championship events as assigned. Performs related administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Required
Graduate of accredited program within discipline. Master’s Degree preferred. BOC Certified and eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio. 2 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in providing athletic training services in a multi-sport environment, BOC certification and eligibility for Ohio Athletic Trainers License required. Experience in a Division One intercollegiate athletic training program desired. Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse student-athlete population required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
