Overview
As a Staff Engineer at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG, your role will span across the Digital Sports and Sports Betting markets. We work cross-functionally and drive innovative solutions across the Fanatics Ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for bringing our personalization technical strategy to life and making customer-obsessed personalization a cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
- As a technology leader, you will need a fundamental understanding of our product. You will work closely with our cross-functional partners on data science, data engineering, product and development teams to define our roadmap and schedule.
- You will be leading in establishing and fostering a high bar for engineering standards, processes, and practices on the team.
- You will take strong and broad ownership of the team’s owned services and platforms. You will have to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and changing priorities.
- You will evaluate new technologies and open sources to recommend improvements for applications, services, and systems.
- You will be mentoring engineers on the team and helping them to progress in their careers.
- Must be open to occasional travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities
Qualifications
- 7+ years’ experience building scalable applications and backend engineering
- Bias for action and love the team aspect of product development
- A data-oriented mindset to support important decision making
- Ability to become a subject matter expert for some of the systems we own, engage in active discussions, and contribute to multiple systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to scale and lead major initiatives
- Engineering excellence champion
- Experienced with web-related technologies (e.g. HTTP, REST, TCP / IP)
- Strong in at least one of java/c++/go (or other typed and modern programming languages)
- Strong SQL. Knowledge of relational databases (PostgresQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
- Datadog/Grafana/Prometheus (or other monitoring stack) is a plus
- Familiar with OOP and design patterns
- Familiar with AWS services and/or GCP
- Experience with personalization products working as a backend services engineer is a plus
- Experience working in/around ML services is a plus
- Experience working with data engineering or big data is a plus
