We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Paralegal to join our legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support in all aspects of patent prosecution, patent litigation, and trademark matters related to our Life Sciences practice. This is a hybrid position, based out of our Menlo Park Offices, requiring onsite 2-3 days a week.
You will:
- Assist attorneys in all aspects of patent prosecution and maintenance, including coordinating the drafting and filing patent applications, responses to office actions, and information disclosure statements.
- Conduct trademark searches and assist with the preparation and filing of trademark applications, oppositions, and cancellations.
- Assist with patent and trademark portfolio management, including docketing and maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with attorneys and other legal professionals to ensure timely completion of projects and compliance with deadlines.
- Communicate with outside counsel and foreign associates on various patent and trademark matters.
- Correspond regularly with in-house clients, inventors, outside counsel, and other patent professionals.
- Manage and coordinate patent and trademark filings with U.S. Patent Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign patent offices.
- Coordinate invention disclosure meetingAssist with preparation of presentations and training materials related to intellectual property.
- Coordinate the processing of IP related invoices.
Your background should include:
- BA/BS and 8+ years of experience working as an Intellectual Property Paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong knowledge of patent and trademark prosecution and litigation procedures, and the ability to manage a high volume of patent and trademark prosecution cases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with business stakeholders, attorneys, patent agents, other paralegals, and executive assistants.
- Knowledge of IP docketing systems, such as Foundation IP, preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
The expected, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $123k – $163k Actual base pay will consider skills, experience, and location.
Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
