The Steamfitter II will perform maintenance on all Utility Plant equipment in an efficient and safe manner. The Steamfitter II will be responsible for all ENGIE operated utility plants equipment on campus. This includes boilers, chillers, cooling towers, steam and condensate systems, fans, pumps, air compressors, all piping systems, and all other related equipment.
This position is located in Columbus, OH on The Ohio State University campus and will report to the Maintenance Manager.
What you’ll do :
- Work as part of a maintenance team with a goal of decreasing downtime and improving efficiency
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems including steam, water, and heating systems
- Responsible for the installation and repairing of expansion joints, valves, gaskets, and steam traps
- Read drawings, complete layouts, cut/join and fit pipe tubing
- Ability to make pipe patterns for saddles, reducers and offsets along with pipe fabrication
- Maintain condensate systems
- Install, repair, replace, maintain and modify piping systems
- Install, repair, replace, maintain and modify condensable lines
- Perform ARC welding and TIG welding
- Install, repair, maintains and troubleshoots mechanical equipment in utility plants & steam and chilled water systems including pumps, compressors, fans, gearboxes and related equipment
- Perform annual maintenance turnaround work on major assets such as chillers and boilers
- Carry out all other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- A minimum five (5) years of pipefitting experience required
- Certified pipe welder in Arc and TIG welding, or willing to obtain within 3 months preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts (6AM-4:30PM)
- Perform proper rigging and use of mobile cranes, lift conveyors and hoists
- Computer literacy

- Salary Range: $42,585-$97,760, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
