Overview

We are looking for a hard-working Stewarding Supervisor to be responsible for the effective supervision of kitchen stewarding operations and ensuring all sanitation standards are met. The steward will assist kitchen and catering staff, ensure all stations are well stocked, and assist in keeping all areas clean and sanitary.

To be successful as a steward, you should be committed to working hard, and have the physical stamina to be on your feet and moving for the duration of your shifts. You should be friendly and helpful and have strong team working skills.

This role will pays a wage of $25 to $28.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for training and oversight of staff on operating the dishwashing machine ensuring water temperature is correct and soap and drying agents as well as the water softening unit are connected and working properly.
  • Maintain organization of dishware, smallwares, pots and pans in storage room.
  • Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the food production areas in the kitchen and concession stands including walls, floors, drains and other areas as necessary.
  • Responsible for supervising the removal of garbage and recyclables from the kitchen and depositing them in the appropriate garbage and recycling depositories.
  • Responsible for oversight of cleaning the kitchen equipment and ensuring items disassembled for cleaning are properly reassembled and operational.
  • Sets up, maintains, and works the dishwashing stations at all events.
  • Bus, sort and prep dishes for cleaning at service stations following meal service.
  • Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
  • Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
  • Responsible for adequately scheduling staff for events and operational needs.
  • Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.
  • Effective and professional leadership and communication skills
  • Supervise stewards during the execution of events to ensure service is consistent with the LCC Standards of Service.
  • Supervise stewards in weekly and monthly side work tasks and ensure that proper setup tasks are completed daily. Ensure that all daily tasks have been completed by the service staff.
  • Train existing stewards so that all stewards perform their tasks in a consistent manner.
  • Must be able to work and lead a team independently without active management.
  • All other duties as assigned by the managers and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D preferred.
  • 2-4 years of stewarding experience in a fast-paced hotel, resort, or club establishment.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
  • Procedure manuals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to work late hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
