The Opportunity
The Software Intern position is within the Stearns Roger Services organization in the Installed Base Outage Services Business Unit, which is responsible for designing and upgrading nuclear reactor refueling equipment to commercial nuclear reactors. This opportunity is located in Lynchburg, Virginia.
What You’ll Do at Framatome
- Participate in software development for various control systems, for projects ranging from small to large.
- Identify new applications and opportunities to improve existing processes
- Participate in all aspects of the software life cycle:
- Development and implementation of technical requirements
- Documentation
- Development of user manuals
- Perform acceptance testing in accordance with acceptance criteria
- Release software to customer and archiving system
- Support and test software
- Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements
- Manage GitLab Linux Server
- Track software requirements and issues to completion
- Performs other related duties and tasks, as required
Travel is not required.
Required Experience
What You’ve Accomplished
- You have completed a at least 4 semesters of Software or Controls Engineering, or Computer Science education and are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology.

- Strong technical problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
The following may be used to differentiate candidates who apply for this position:
- Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
- Experience in Windows or PLC programming
- Familiar with communications between computer and attached hardware
- Ability to communicate clearly and precisely in oral, written, and presentation formats
- Beginner skills in Microsoft Office Tools
- Windows .Net/WPF programming experience is preferred
- Siemens TIA Portal and PLC programming experience is beneficial
- SQL Server experience is beneficial
- Candidate should have troubleshooting experience
- Electromechanical or additional courses of study in EE, BSCS, Automation or robotics is a plus

The range of base salary for the position is between $19 – $23 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
