Come help us invent the future of the Starbucks Store Experience. Global Concepts is looking for a bold, energetic Store Designer to bring new store concepts and experiences to life. We are looking for strong conceptual designers, brilliant graphic storytellers, and big-picture strategic thinkers. In addition, Store Designers are responsible for producing design documentation of new stores and honoring project budgets, schedules, and operational requirements. Our design process includes design ideation, schematic design, design development, construction documentation and administration.
As a store designer, you will…
- Create: Never-before-seen Starbucks store concepts and experiences
- Experiment: Rapidly iterate and evolve design ideas in response to cross-functional feedback
- Live: the Starbucks brand Mission and Values.
- Tell Stories: Communicate the big picture to stakeholders
- Listen and Adapt: Manage feedback and adjust designs per business needs
- Learn: Assess viability of new concepts and create design standards for scale
- Be Responsible: Manage construction documentation by internal and external designers and consultants, taking responsibility for translation of design intent to built reality.
- Grow: Contribute to studio goals and culture by meeting target deliverables and mentoring colleagues.
We’d love to hear from people with:
Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design or related field
- Design documentation in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup and Rhino (4-7 yrs)
- Design project management (1-2 yrs)
- Management of external architectural and/or design consultants (4-7 yrs)
- Retail, hospitality, or restaurant design or development including management of design documentation (4-7 yrs)
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong conceptual designer, must be interested in iterative design experimentation.
- Graphic storytelling, excellent at distilling complex ideas visually and verbally.
- Strategic thinker comfortable in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail.
- Expert level competency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate design with hand sketches and 3D visualizations.
- Knowledge of architectural detailing, specification, color, materiality and finishes.
- Ability to apply multidisciplinary business principles to design.
- Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines.
- Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
